It will be the happiest day of her life....
Carlotta Wren has been looking forward to her wedding day since she was a little girl, and she wants it to be perfect. But even as she plans a blowout wedding, she has other worries on her mind.
In the process of trying to prove her former coworker was murdered, she may have stumbled onto a coverup with national implications - not to mention learning she’s blood related to someone with whom she has, um, unpleasant history.
If she lives long enough to say I DO!
And while she’s pledged her hand to one man, another man is dogging her heels, and her heart. She has the perfect dress, the perfect ring...and the perfect man? If only she could see into the future....
As Carlotta closes in on a murderer, she realizes she’s in the crosshairs of some powerful people who want her dead - if planning the wedding doesn’t kill her first!

It's not that I mind that Carlotta wound up with
****SPOILER ALERT******
Jack. I was team Coop, but it was clear Carlotta had more chemistry with Jack. It's that Carlotta left Coop at the alter and then ran off to marry Jack that very day without even having the decency to break things off with Coop! What kind of monster does that to someone, let alone to someone you profess to love? Are we just supposed to be happy that Carlotta and Jack get their happy ending and never mind the emotional devastation she wreaked on someone who had done nothing but love, support, and cherish her? Is she a sociopath, or just breathtakingly cruel and selfish? The ending was so hideous that it's tainted my view of the entire series. I wish I could go back and scrub the last chapter out of my brain. All that said, I do recommend the book...as long as you stop reading before the last chapter.
*Before the ending, my one complaint with the series was the extreme overuse of the word "murmured" and the phrase "made a rueful/mournful noise." They come up so nauseatingly often that it makes one wonder if Carlotta is pathologically unable to speak at normal conversational tones or use her words to articulate unhappy feelings. How did the editor let that happen for 12 entire books??
The book seems forced with too many plotlines that ended too quickly. I understand that the author might not have wanted to continue the series, but this story could have been resolved over a much longer book - or split into two midsize books to do it justice. All of the wonderful detail of the story and personality of the characters is missing.
When she's on her game, Stephanie Bond is one of my favorite authors. I dropped her from autobuy when she began splitting her books into novella size chunks and then just stopped reading her work, except for the Bodymovers series. It's a bittersweet goodbye to this group of characters and to this author for me. My four star review is mostly for nostalgia's sake.
