Fun With Positive Message
Verified purchase
This has become my favorite Christmas movie because of the positive message it conveys. As the lead actress progresses through her 12 dates, she grows as a person and realizes that life is not all about HER and her wants and desires. There is something of far greater importance in life and that has to do with focusing on and helping others. And in the end, if we take the focus off of ourselves and put it on meeting the cares and concerns of others, we will usually find the true happiness we seek. This movie does a great job getting to this place and telling the story in a funny and engaging way, with romance and genuine emotion. It's worth watching anytime, not just at Christmas!

Yes, it's a rip-off of Groundhog Day, but it is a particularly good rip-off of Groundhog Day. I've seen at least three Groundhog Day clones, and this is the only one really worth the effort.

As in Groundhog Day, Amy Smart's character, Kate, gets trapped in a loop where she keeps repeating the same day (Christmas Eve) over and over. Also, as in Groundhog Day, once she realizes what is happening, she keeps experimenting, and though she has her setbacks, with experience she grows and becomes smarter and wiser.

Kate is determined (and a little too sure of herself) to win back her ex-boyfriend, Jack, but is scheduled to be on a blind date with a gentleman named Miles, set up by the lady friend of her widower Father. As repetitions occur, she keeps reexamining her goals and priorities, meets new people, reassesses her existing relationships, and reconsiders what is important in life.

It is a heart-warming tale and quite entertaining.

Amy Smart's Kate is perky and determined, but some of the most interesting characters are incidental characters she meets along the way.

I like this movie a lot and look forward to seeing it every Christmas. I wish it were available on DVD but for now I'll have to settle for owning the digital version.

A fun, clever Christmas movie that stands out in a crowded field

My sister and I stumbled upon this movie online (on a different platform) last year. We were looking for a RomCom Christmas movie that we hadn't seen before, and this one looked interesting. I did not know anything about the storyline, so at first I was annoyed that the lead woman kept getting hit on the head and reliving the same day. I couldn't tell where it was going at first, but then I "got it" and the movie was a blast!! A mix of "Groundhog Day" and the "Twelve Days of Christmas" song. I have been recommending it to friends. The acting is terrific -- Amy Smart is perfect in the lead role. I love Hallmark Christmas movies, but, let's be honest: the plotlines are all the same and very predictable... and somewhat cheesy. "The Twelve Dates of Christmas" is so much better, more clever, and with great acting. It is now among my "Christmas Classics" to watch!

cute Christmas romance learn a lesson about life and yourself movie

I've been waiting for two years for this movie to appear on Amazon so I can buy it. Saw it for the first time last year on another platform. Even looked for it on DVD. So the movie . . .

Young girl slips and falls in a department store on Christmas Eve. She experiences her day. Then at midnight each night for 12 nights she repeats Christmas Eve. She kinda wises up after the initial confusion and starts finding out more things about the people she encounters each day so that on the repeat she can help them with this or that. But the over all idea here is that she learns more about herself so that she can be happy too.

It is a movie where everyone gets paired off/happy by the end. The girl and guy get together. The girl and guy's friends get together. The girl and guy make up with their parents. The girl and guy's older single friends get together. Etc. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot. It is a "Groundhog" type of movie but not as irritating in my opinion.

I'm a dude, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I love this movie. Amy Smart is as spunky as ever, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar is just a cool, nice guy. This has a very similar concept to Groundhog Day (Bill Murray) but in a more up-to-date setting. Highly recommend.

Groundhog Day was first, as far as I know, from last century. What made the movie so great was Bill Murray. Since then, there has been one movie after the other built around living the same day over and over. Just watched one on Prime the other day. But they missed the point.

If you haven't got Bill, you don't have a real movie with this concept, until the Reese Witherspoon lookalike showed up in 12 Dates of Christmas.

First, this movie is not the whole day. It is half a day and an evening until midnight. She has the same day, but stops to get the know the same people. She learns to bake, string lights, love her step-mother, and find the right guy. As she really learns about these people, she learns about herself. The silly day was funny. A couple are pathetic and she messes herself up even more. Then she begins to get it. Everyone has a Christmas story and they are all different. We need to accept that not everyone has the same Christmases and wants and needs. When our heroine learns this, she still hates the 12 Days of Christmas song but is able to move on...literally.

Sit back and get the family, lots of popcorn and laughter and enjoyment!

Wonderful Christmas movie

Hallmark would kill to have this movie in its library.

From the "12 Days of Christmas" song lyrics items that appear throughout the movie to Madi Diaz's "I Hope That It Snows" to the wonderful ending, this movie has all the ingredients for a great Christmas movie.

This is one where its pedestrian IMDB rating (6.3 as of Dec 2020) can get this movie lost in the throng of romantic comedy Christmas movies.

It's neat watching Amy Smart's "Kate" evolve from a not-very-likable witch to the caring, compassionate woman she ends up. She plays this character wonderfully. And the characters that surround her are great.

Don't pass up a chance to see this movie.

Groundhog Day, Christmas style
Verified purchase
One of my favorite Christmas movies. I am excited it is finally available for purchase. This movie is an enjoyable Christmas ripoff of Groundhog Day. The main character wakes up over and over again in the same situation, which she is ultimately put in so that she can get her priorities straight. It is a funny, well-acted movie. I highly recommend this one as it is one of the better Christmas movies out there.
