I enjoyed the story of Matt and Jana, a couple who have had a rocky time lately, partly with work, responsibilities, and fear of the future. Jana was an on-stage actress who now runs her own small theater and Matt is working undercover and involved in an ongoing investigation. Matt has a small daughter, and Jana two small dogs, that sometimes when they all get together, is a bit much. What happens when the lines of communication break down, and the mind starts running overtime? Then to witness a scene and jump to conclusions leads to hurt, anger, accusations, and leaves both of them extremely upset. Will the week away be good for Jana working on stage again? What will happen when she returns on Christmas Eve?

Mattie is the lady’s maid of Lady Knox and followed her from the home of the Freebush, relatives of Lady Knox. Baxter is the manservant of Lord Knox, and the man sent to bring her into the Knox household. While Mattie and Baxter have had a secret tryst, they aren’t as secretive as they think. Baxter wants to marry Mattie, but she has reservations about his true intent. When Lord and Lady Knox come up with their own plan, will it work out for their servants or backfire
It is Christmas eve, and the planned Christmas party will have a surprise guest, matchmaker extraordinaire, Lady Ambrosia. When she is asked to make a match, what happens when the man picked it Baxter, and all the single ladies are vying for his attention?
“Lady Ambrosia took a hearty swig of eggnog before continuing. “In this season of gift giving, I like to think that love is the greatest gift of all. And so, I hope that tonight I will be able to make some matches for the lovely people here this evening for what is life without love?”

Kelli has the perfect job working at a senior assisted living home, and she loves the patients, especially the eccentric Maggie Tehran who dresses to the nines and talks about her son or is it, sons, she refers to Stan, Steven, and Storm. Seeing their picture, it must only be one, and she just can’t keep the name straight—after all, she calls Kelli, Shirley.
The plot will have Kelli downloading a book on her iPad and dropping it when startled, and then discovering that the screen is blue. Another nurse assures her that a tech guy comes on Tuesday and can fix anything. When she comes in later, her iPad has been returned, and she has a note from him that lets her know he has seen what she downloads.
“Three times the fun, naughty little Kelli. Mother has been begging each of us to meet you. She has high hopes of marrying you off to one of us. She doesn’t know that her insistence we share our toys as boys has become sort of a—naughty habit we still enjoy. Any woman who hopes to catch our attention would need to be open to a more complex, interesting relationship. Momma’s nice little ‘Shirley’ was too dull and normal for such a notion. It’s one of the main reasons none of us dared to visit while you were on duty.”
Christmas eve will bring Santa, and the reality that Maggie has three boys, identical triplets, dominant masters, and the makers of dreams come true.

CHRISTMAS GIFTS COME IN MANY FORMS
A fun little Christmas novella with a happy ending for both Nick and Noelle. I liked Nick Silverton, a man who was placed in a dreaded position by the economy, having to lay off people and so close to the holidays. He trusted an office manager to help determined who must go and why. Shocked to see that Noelle Clipman was on the list, he still approved it.
Noelle Clipman has worked for several years at Silverton Accounting and isn’t shocked when she is called in the office and laid off, but she is in a bind and must find a job. She finds one at a store about forty minutes away as Mrs. Claus.
The plot will have Nick inheriting his maternal grandfather’s store, Freeman’s, and must divide his time between the accounting firm, Silverton. When he sees recently laid off, Noelle’s application, he gives her the job as Mrs. Claus and working with him during her shift. It gives them time to get to know each other, and she is so good with the children. What a shock when she goes off with threats to two little boys with a spanking from Santa. Well, Santa Nick can’t allow her to get away with her naughty behavior. Nick will take Noelle to be spanked in Santa’s office, followed by an open discussion.
“So, although the spanking may really hurt, I love the way they make me feel afterward. I feel loved and cherished when I’m safe in your arms after you’ve, shall we say: reminded me you’re watching me?”
Will Nick finally get Noelle to open up and explain how such a sweet girl has changed over the last year, with complaints from employees and clients while at Silverton, and her outburst at Freeman’s?. Has Santa Nick found his own special Mrs. Claus in Noelle? I would love to see more about this couple.
Tokoyo Express by Paige Parsons
TO MAKING NEW FRIENDS, SHARING SECRETS AND SAFE TRAVELS
A surprisingly different story but one that kept the pages turning with two great characters, Leah and Adrian. Leah is traveling from Japan where she teaches English back to visit her family in Arizona for Christmas. She had everything planned out, the timing, the trains, including first-class seating, and the flight, which departed early. Going to see her family comes with mixed emotions and plenty of trepidation.
The plot will have Leah arriving at the trains station, boarding the train to find a man in her seat, and that will set her off. Adrian is shocked at the attitude coming from this young woman and remains calm to try and help her resolve her issue—claiming he is in her seat. What a shock to discover they were assigned the same seat, but his charismatic personality can soothe her and gives them a five-hour trip to talk and get to know each other.
Secrets, disappointment, depression, and despair all lead to her leaving America and taking a job in Japan, one that he family doesn’t understand, and she can’t tell them why. Adrian is a good listener, problem solver, and comes up with a viable solution.
“Adrian had her and was taking care of things. It was nice to have that feeling back, even if it was only for another hour or so speeding through a train station.”
Maybe having a person who wasn’t personally involved, had no knowledge of any of the people involved, could be an impartial judge and help her with her dilemma. Staying a few days in Japan and traveling with him offers her healing and maybe a chance at happiness.
A Wyld Christmas by Victoria Phelps
I’M HAPPY HERE—CONTENT AND SATISFIED
What a nice visit to with the characters from the Texas Time Travel series. Sisters, Marcie and Amanda, along with their husbands and children. But, that doesn’t mean reading this Christmas novella will have you lost. The Wyld sisters slipped back into time one hundred years during a meteor shower, and now Dr. Marcie must leave 1898 and return to 1998 and acquire medicine to save her daughter’s life, but her husband, John Wayne, isn’t going to let her go alone.
The plot will have John Wayne not impressed with the future, or at least most of it, and allowing his wife to go off and take care of her errands doesn’t sit well with his philosophy of protecting her, but he has to allow it. Marcie knows that Ava’s life is in severe jeopardy and she needs antibiotics to survive. On a tight window of opportunity, she will get the medicine and supplies to go back to their life in 1898.
John will sit in a bar and witness things that Marcie had told him about, including a movie on that square box. Seeing an old John Wayne movie, McClintock, will have him disapproving of the spanking scene he witnesses, and sharing his thoughts with a man dressed as Santa.
“A spanking hurts. It’s supposed to, but your woman knows she is being spanked because you love her. A man spanks for three reasons: His woman risked her health, her safety or acted in a way that weakens your marriage or your family. AND it’s private between a man and his woman, not a public spectacle. A spanking is given with love and concern. You don’t embarrass or humiliate your wife.”
John and Marcie will confide the truth to her cousin, Brett Wyld, who now lives in the family-owned farmhouse—and warns of the dangers of the meteor showers and Wyld women, which will include Brett’s daughter for the future. Does Marcie regret leaving the future and returning to the past, giving up all the features John observed—or is she happy with what she has? Does that mean Marcie will escape a spanking for keeping secrets about her plans? I think not. Will Brett take words of wisdom imparted to him by John about how to handle Linda?
Strict Santa by Sue Lyndon
PERHAPS IT’S FATE THAT WE GOT SNOWED IN TOGETHER
What happens when neighbors across the hall in the same apartment building have their Christmas plans changed by a major snowstorm? They find a way to create new plans. Professor Warren Kingsley and Megan Anderson have lived across the hall from each other, and have only exchanged pleasantries, but that is all about to change. While each has secretly had thoughts about the other, it will take a snowstorm to bring these two together.
The chemistry between Warren and Megan is explosive, and they have a great interaction together. He likes to call her a naughty little girl, and she just melts when he does.
“What did I tell you? My my, you are a disobedient one. You just earned yourself a spanking little girl. I’m a possessive man, Megan; I know that once I claim you, I’ll never let you go. You’ll be mine. Do you understand?”
“She flushed at his mention of her punishment. Though her spanking had been delivered in a playful manner, her bottom still burned and the power dynamics between them had shifted. She felt like a naughty little girl who’d better behave or her teacher would spank her.”
While they start with playful bantering, and a funishment spanking, it leads to romps in the bedroom. Since her plans for Christmas had included baking lots of cookies to take back to her family, and with those plans changed, she will share with the neighbors in the building. What happens when Megan enters a dangerous situation, and Warren finds out? Will he decide she isn’t worth his time and trouble, or will he correct his naughty girl for real?
Decking His Halls by Stella Grace
THE NAUGHTY CHRISTMAS PARTY
What a whirlwind week for Maggie Richmond that started as a trip to Walmart for a few items right before Thanksgiving. Loving Christmas, she decided to splurge on a few new decorations, like a faux fur tree skirt. What a shock to hear the voice of the man in line behind her, and catching a glimpse of him, he is a looker too. Oh how embarrassing to not have enough money to pay for her purchases and he comes to her rescue.
The plot will have Maggie meeting Bennet, and when he learns she loves to decorate for Christmas, including helping out at her office, he offers her a chance to help him by decorating for a Christmas party he hosts. What he doesn’t give her a chance is to refuse, using all forms of persuasion, and she will finally acquiesce to his demands.
“Maggie didn’t know how to respond. She didn’t know what to think about everything that had happened in the past 24 hours. Her world hadn’t just been flipped upside down; it was knocked into another galaxy. She wondered if she’d even recover.”
Sent by private plane to a destination she doesn’t even know where she is going, meeting his help, Simon, and then learning more about what type of party she is expected to decorate for comes as a major shock. Why does Bennet want her, and what is the rest of the plans? Should she demand to go home or accept this as a new experience and see where it takes them?
“He watched as simple splendor overcame her and sat back to enjoy the excitement of her experiencing snow for the first time. Here she was, a grown woman, halting herself and her emotions to appreciate something as simple as snow. That’s when he knew she was the one. She enjoyed the simplest things in life, which in turn, made him slow down to enjoy them too. That’s what he needed.”
Dragons Under the Mistletoe by Mary Auclair
MY FIRST CHRISTMAS GIFT
While the story is a spin-off from Touch of Ice (Dawn of Dragons), it will read well as a stand-alone. A Christmas Eve masquerades ball at Whispering Castle with so many guests that Janelle believes she can complete her mission, get in, steal Lady Endora’s mating bracelet, and return to Darrick. But she underestimated meeting Captain Dalgo.
The story is full of paranormal, mystery, suspense, danger, deceit, and power play, good versus bad, and a chance for redemption—a Christmas miracle. Janelle may think she escapes Dalgo, but the weather is her enemy, and he is determined, don’t underestimate a Dragon. He will even give her choices when she is captured—but is being his prisoner for life a curse or a blessing? But what about Darrick and the other orphans?
“He was the predator to her prey, and she wouldn’t expect any mercy from him.”
“Then you give me no choice—but I will give you one.” He leaned in closer, so close that when he spoke, his breath tickled her lips. “Stay in this castle as my prisoner, or face Lord Aldric’s justice.”
“A dragon made man. Fire made flesh. The predator to her prey had come to collect what was owed. And was owed was her. “The beast has come out to play. Don’t tease it, sweet Janelle, or it might bite you. You have awakened the beast, woman. And there is only one way to appease it. You are my prisoner. I can do whatever I want to you. Isn’t that what you agreed to?”
Once Upon A Christmas Eve by Courage Knight
A HAPPY STORY WITH A HAPPILY EVER AFTER
I will be the first to admit, this story got me in my feels so many times, a happy emotional mess, but such a joyful read. Kelly and Jonathan make a great couple, even if they are opposites in so many ways, they compliment each other. Who would have thought her landing in the ER and another doctor’s concerns would bring them together?
Kelly is a musher, with seven rambunctious huskeys, ones that aren’t well trained in obedience, but great pulling a sled. That is how she ends up in the ER—again! Dr. Jonathan Steele will have his world rocked when he meets the formidable Kelly Smith, thinking she is a victim of abuse, and learning the abuse came from her dogs and their strength.
The story will have them meeting in the ER, and then again at O”Toole’s Pub where their relationship goes from patient to acquaintance and quickly to dating. Jonathan decides she needs a keeper, and it is going to be him. Kelly is feisty and amazes him at her enthusiasm for life and heaven help if she decides on a project, nothing will stop her—like making Christmas for a family where Jonathan is a big brother to one of the boys. But what happens when Kelly stays up all night on a project rather than getting her sleep, Jonathan shows her his displeasure.
The story is an eye-opener for Kelly, helping her find meaning, what she would like to do with her life, and returning to college. It is about the joy of Christmas, especially when it is to help a family, and allowing other friends to play a part.
“No job is meaningless if it is done well and with dignity. Kelly was right, Jonathan noted. She was meant to help people.”
