What a masterfully story writer Mr. Patterson is. He keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout his story. You can't put it down until you are finished. And even then, you can't believe you are finished with the story. And of course you are not. He always leaves you hanging in the wind. Waiting for his next excerpt. He has total command of you and enjoys leaving his reader's waiting with baited breath for more.
Please read this book and I am sure, you will enjoy it as much as I have.

I bought this book as a gift in the series, Kindle version, for my mother. She really likes the series and so I try to send the newest one to her. I personally haven't read James Patterson, and from what I've reviewed in the book jackets, I don't think he's my type of author. Too much violence. However, my mother says this is about a group of ladies who solve crimes. She likes the continuation of a group of characters who interact and you feel as if you know them when the next book comes out. I will buy her the next one, too.

I have been a fan of James Patterson for many years, enjoying both his Alex Cross series and the Women’s Murder Club novels. I always find them an exciting and fast read and this was no exception. The action takes you from scene to scene at a fast pace with short punchy chapters making you want to keep turning the pages. In this one, Lindsay Boxer is trying to solve two cases – the first one seemingly involving members of the San Francisco Police holding up and robbing local stores and killing people along the way. They must be stopped before they seriously damage the reputation of the SFPD. The second appears to be an old case of unsolved killings carried out on the same day every year for the past 5 years. Again, the needs to be solved before the killer can strike again.

As usual, Lindsay’s friends – Claire, Cindy and Yuki are main characters in this story, all three of them contributing towards the excitement along the way. The regular crowd of police detectives – Conklin, Brady, Jacobi – have a major part to play along with Boxer’s husband Joe – and anyone of them could be in dreadful danger.

The ending leaves us wanting more and as always leads us head on into the next book in the series.

Another Winner For Me

I love this series of books and thankfully they've not gone off the boil as I found the Cross series did. They're still page-turning and highly entertaining. This one is no exception. I greatly enjoyed it although THAT ending comes up on you pretty suddenly (and at only 95%) !! He doesn't usually leave these to end in a TBC fashion as this one is so it was unexpected. However, if you're reading book 14 in the series it's probably pretty much a guarantee you'll also buy book 15. I wait till the prices come down quite significantly, though. Luckily, I don't mind reading them later than others do !!
There were some nice moments featured in this one among the main cast which I liked. A couple of expressions I'd never heard before I liked as well-rain box and jumpety-howdy-do. I did wonder at Lindsay and Joe both making pretty crashing rookie errors in the course of their investigations in this. They both need to shape up a bit !!
The only mistakes I spotted were a couple of missing fullstops which is very impressive. He was a bit hyphen-obsessed in this tale, though. There were a LOT of them. This sentence was possibly the worst example-"....blending in with the row of chunky, putty-colored or gray cinder-block two-and-three-story buildings". Oh, and at one point he needed one in foot well and missed it !!
At one point I was baffled why, in Claire's story she told the others, she got in touch with a Vice detective....she never really explained that and, however many times I read it back, I couldn't understand why she chose Vice. There were a few repetitious passages as well for some reason. Another confusion was an officer's wife having red welts on her neck and arms apropos of nothing I could figure out.
However, all in all, it's certainly another winner for me.

I really look forward to the latest challenges that the ladies who form the Women's Murder Club face and the 14th episode was as enjoyable as the previous 13. The stories are easy to read and I really enjoy the consistent characters which to me are believable and would make an excellent transfer to the big (or small) screen.
The ongoing trials and tribulations of the 4 main characters is something that takes me away from 'normal life' and I can immerse myself in their world which is enjoyable escapism for me. Each has a part to play in the books and it's great to feel that you are following their lives with the ups and downs that they all experience in their daily lives.
Not wanting to create any spoiler alerts but James and Maxine, you can't leave true fans for any length of time before the 15th instalment is revealed as I need to know that my friend Lindsay rises to the unanswered threats that will be hopefully explored and dealt with supported I hope by the supporting cast of likeable characters.
Long may the Women's Murder Club continue.

Women's Murder Club of Lindsay, Claire, Yuki and Cindy feature less in 14th Deadly Sin than in previous stories. Cindy is away on a promotional book tour for most of the novel, and Claire hardly rates a mention except when dead bodies are around - to be fair there are quite a few of those. Yuki features heavily having left the DA's office. Lindsay pursues crooked cops along with Richie and Brady. All good cops and robbers stuff. Most irritating though is that you need to buy book 15 in order to complete the story - that's why three stars from me as I feel a little cheated.
