5.0 out of 5 stars21st Birthday

21st Birthday is the 21st book in the Women’s Murder Club by James Patterson and is a 5 star read.
The one thing you are guaranteed with a James Patterson book is a thrilling story from the first page until the last and this book is no different. The women’s murder club are looking into the disappearance of a young mother and her baby and the fingers are pointing at her husband but as more bodies show up they realise that they have a serial killer on their hands and time is running out before the next bodies are found. I’m a huge James Patterson fan everything he writes is brilliant.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley.

I am So disappointed In James Patterson's writing lately. I have read all it women murder club books Are shorter and length And in suspense I think he writes too many books in such a short time and doesn't give enough creativity and thought To each 1. I stopped reading his Alex cross books because they were getting so boring. The women's murder club 1st books so incredibly well written Now After reading 21 of them And paying of it price for them I think I am going to stop reading James Patterson. He was a better writer when he wrote his books himself. It's a shame I think a lot of readers feel the same way

I have been re-reading the glowing reviews of this book, wondering if I read the same book. I haven't read a Women's Murder Club book in a while. Perhaps with my increased reading during Covid, I have moved on to better, more sophisticated writers of thrillers. The 21st Birthday could barely hold my interest. I skipped pages when the writer continued to repeat facts previously told. I skimmed through pages where too many details were shared about an unimportant story line. Then, when an interesting story did get introduced, it was never resolved satisfactorily or even realistically. Too many sub plots with no endings. Even the book ending was abrupt and flippant. I found the entire book lame.

I love the Women's Murder Club characters. Lindsey, the cop, Claire, Medical Examiner, Yuki, ADA, and Cindy, reporter. This book gets off to a wonderful start with Cindy at her lawyer's office to close a deal on a sensational murder back in SF. Story goes back in time to tell the reader what transpired to land Cindy her deal. Again, a great mystery with a guy suspected of murdering his wife and 16 month old daughter. Then his girlfriend (at the prep school where he teaches!) is killed. Bodies pile up. The suspect drops a bomb on Lindsey and others. Is what he says true or just the manipulations of a psychopath?
And then the plot unravels into a meandering story, including a trial, and another suspect on the rampage. Just never comes together. Whodunnit was way too easy to figure out. The characters, for me, acted in dumb fashion. Not a favorite in the series.

A serial murderer is exposed when a mother and daughter are missing and turn up dead. The question is who's the killer, the husband and father of the mother and child, or his father ?
There's a lot of cat and mouse but not as much action as this story merits. An above average court case scene and some twists and turns then, smack, a resolution followed by different twists and turns, etc. Even the surprise ending was, um, lackluster.

If your looking for a book that wraps everything up with a big red bow at the end, this is NOT for you. I have read every single book in this series. This is the first time I have no idea who killed who. A very mixed up storyline. Read the last chapter three times, trying to see if i missed something? Still no idea.

I am having a hard time believing an adult actually wrote this novel. Having read all of the previous Women's Mystery Club novels, this one doesn't connect. The characters are written differently, the story makes no sense and the book is just full of errors. At one point a male judge is actually referred to as "she." It seems like this book was written in haste with no regard of tying the story together or even giving it an ending. It just ends with no explanation. Sorry, but very disappointed in James Patterson and also the publisher for allowing this book to be published with so many errors.

I've read all of the Women's Murder Club books and loved them all, until now. This was extremely boring. It skipped around a lot. It's main focus was the Yuki and the courtroom drama which wasn't at all dramatic. Same your money and time - don't bother.

I like Patterson's writing because the chapters are short and it flows easily. But so many things bothered me about this book and the series in general. Yes, Boxer is a homicide detective and it's a tough, grueling job, but her husband and daughter take a back seat not only to her job but to her girlfriends. After not seeing your family for the past 15 hours, you'd think she'd go home, but she goes to the bar to meet her girlfriends, and her husband is okay with whatever she does. Everything is perfect in her marriage, everything is perfect with Cindy and Rich, everything is perfect with Yuki and her husband. And that's another laugh - the detective and the journalist live together, one of the top cops and the ADA are married, it's conflicts of interest all over the place in my opinion, but no one seems to care. In this book, I found the ending horrible. In real life, there is no way the jury would find what they found, I believe and the ADA is celebrating all over the place when she might have made a really major mistake. All she does is open her mouth in court and everyone says how sharp and amazing she is, and she really is not all that sharp or amazing. I've read several books in this series and they are getting more annoying and silly as they go on, so I think I'll stop reading them.

I always look forward to a new Women's Murder Club book but was not happy with this one. It appears that they all were anxious to make their case and rush to judgment. I hope the next book will be better and they'll work together for justice!

This and the previous one (20th) are characters is search of a plot. This book is just insulting to the loyal readers of the Murder Club. The series started with terrific stories and slowly degraded into lulling the reader into a coma!. This will be my last purchase of these books.
