A little on the expensive side but!; Well worth the use in below the waterline applications. A few things to note and be aware of. The difference between the 4200 vs 5200 is this; the 4200 is not "permanent" as the 5200 is for one. So if you use this for thru hull applications that's a good thing if it's an item that one day will require removing or servicing. Also the 4200 does not have the shear- structural strength as the 5200 does, thus you may need to consider a mechanical attachment such as a well/hull nut (which you'll want to set and attach with the 5200) I would not rely on the 4200 for pure structural attachment on anything. As far as water tight, durable and ease of application, this is a great product. Again, just understand your application needs. Also once opened, "air" (02) and exposure to the atmosphere starts to "cure" the product, even with a cap on or plugging the nozzle. A great suggestion I learned was to warp the product in ceran-wrap tightly and keep stored in the freezer. The cold "frozen" air great mitigates air and leaves the product well preserved. I found this to be true and really works. I used the product 2 weeks later on another project. I pulled it out of the freezer and let it get acclimated to room temperature which took less than 2 hours. It flowed smooth and kept all it specified properties and performance characteristics. I mention this as expensive as this product is, don't let it go to waste!

MISSING Threaded Cartridge Nozzle

Great product and good price, BUT.......shipped without the necessary threaded cartridge nozzle! Spent 20 minutes running around town, trying to find someone who would sell the threaded cartridge nozzle - no luck. Jury-rigged something to make it work, but wasted a lot of time. Amazon shipping needs to ensure the threaded cartridge nozzle is included and taped to the tube. Needed immediately and couldn't waste another few days returning and waiting for a replacement, that might have the same issue of the missing threaded cartridge nozzle.

Warning Mold Grows In It

Not anywhere near marine grade based on years of personal experience with marine products. Why? After a few months grayish black discoloring (mold of some type) is occurring mixed throughout (inside and out) the entire strip of caulking. I have other white caulking 4 times as old that is still perfect. Worse perhaps is how difficult it is to work with. It is thick coming out of the tube and wants to level out on virtually any horizontal surface. Can't imagine what it may be like working it into a vertical surface??? And since it is solvent based, the mess is only cleaned with mineral spirits (buy lots of it though). I taped off both sides of the strip area I was about to caulk. The leveling tendency ran over the tape, so glad I taped it. Wrong! In allowing the caulk to settle, it began to congeal so that when pulling the tape off, the caulk was unevenly pulled out of the strip (which was impossible to avoid at this stage) making the strip look like it had been applied by a 3 year old. Smoothing it afterward was impossible, creating globs and chunks and valleys Have always been impressed with 3M products despite their expense until now. This caulk is junk and while it may last (I don't know cause I am tearing it out), who would want to look at two moldy caulk strips on a twin engine Grady White? Waste of time and money.

Nozzle Missing

Like several others, the tube of caulk did not come with the nozzle. Doing a return or refund is very inconvenient, especially when the caulk was purchased just in time to do a project. Will need to start buying this kind of item elsewhere.
Update:
Needed a second tube, so I ordered an additional tube, hoping that the missing nozzle on my first purchase was the exception. Second tube came without a nozzle. Since I had already purchased nozzles separately due to the first purchase I was able to use the tube, but the product description is deceptive, in that it shows a nozzle in the pictures. Two out of two purchases, no nozzle included.
Bought a third tube. Why? Good price and I already invested in nozzles. This third tube finally came with the nozzle as advertised, so I added stars. Not always getting the nozzle [tip] was an annoyance. On the positive side the missing nozzle made me purchase a pack of nozzles with caps. They allowed me to seal the partially used tube, so I was able to use the tubes for multiple work sessions across several days. That saved me more than the cost of the package of nozzles. Start of each session I did use a fresh tip, however, since some of the caulk set up in the tip, but at the exit of the tube the caulk was fresh.

What I liked?
It does what you want from sealant; it keeps water out of areas you want dry.
What I didn't like:
It's super messy. It's like trying to spread honey neatly. It gets over everything, and the more you try to fix it, the more it messes up.
It's enough to make a tough guy cry. Not that I did...not that there's anything wrong with that...I'm just sayin'.
One more thing.
The first one I received was used.
It wouldn't despense because it was all dried up. I finally figured it out. The pop top bottom was pulled and there was a funkey sticker on the tube.
I sent it back and received a new one. I didn't know what a new one looked like until I saw it. Completely different. When I mentioned to the UPS guy my suspicion that it was used, he said, "Yeah, it even has one of our return labels on it".
Shame on you Amazon employee who should have known better than to send out a used, defective item.

Please stop sending smashed tubes. Again, these must be put in a caulking gun. This is a metal tube, It doesn't work right when its smashed. I know it was the person who put it in the box because the box was perfect! Please! Address this issue. It happens time and time again.

Not the same product as 5200 is for permanent bounding and 4200 is for semi permanent bounding.
