Former neuroscience researcher, born again novelist. During my studies, it struck me as odd that I could learn so much about behavior without understanding the intricacies of human nature. I realized that I learned more about what it means to be human from reading stories than I ever had from my text books, and I was inspired to write.

I spent several years selling scripts in Los Angeles, but was ultimately frustrated with my lack of control over my projects. A general stubbornness and unwillingness to compromise my creative pursuits led me to starting my own publishing house to do things my own way.

I now work full time as a novelist and publisher, putting out a new book every month with Haunted House Publishing.

I first found this author on Reddit, and enjoyed his stories tremendously. I had the opportunity to check out this collection, and would say it's well worth a read if you like tense, often harrowing short stories.

Pros:
+ The format allows for an aggressive style of storytelling, but it never feels rushed.
+ Prose that carries weight, without being overly flowery.
+ Strong stories that often left me wondering, but never cheated.

Cons:
- The multi part story in this was my least favorite, but I rarely like multi part short stories.
- A handful of spelling/grammatical errors, but that was over 300+ pages.

Overall, a fantastic showing and I look forward to reading more of his work.

As an avid fan of the horror genre, there was no way I was going to skip entering this giveaway and this anthology did not disappoint. With 52 various tales of fright, these stores are geared to make you feel something. Some are scary, some are creepy, some are uncomfortable....but all are entertaining. It's definitely a book to keep and read again during a stormy night.

The vast assortment of tales was rather surprising. We had nightmares, ghosts, and monsters of all types.

And the names of the stories! Some of my faves included:

"My New Sex Doll Won't Stop Crying"
"Suicide Watch Party"
"An Angry Midget Dresses As Little Girls to Catch Pedophiles"
"Our Extra Son Was for Experiments"

I think my favorite story was "Most Terrifying Drawing," where the kids in a high school art class are given the fun project of drawing the scariest thing they could imagine. However this project didn't quite end the the art teacher thought it would.

This is definitely one of the better short story collections I've read in awhile!

I chose a 4 star as it's difficult to rate a collection of stories instead of a book. There are many GOOD stories in here, and 1 or 2 that are slow, or not that great in my mind. However, out of 52 stories, 1 or 2 that are a little short of expectation is pretty good. Buy the book and enjoy

Honestly, I wasn't too sure about this book but, once I started, I couldn't put it down. Every story was so imaginative, and creative, I was never bored, and most stories left me wanting more. I loved every story, and think his writing style is creepy cool. There were a handful of typos, but nothing you can't make sense of. I'm glad to know there are more books, and look forward to reading them!

There are all sorts of themes, situations and characters, some comedic, others quite sad. Many of the stories really made you pause and consider - what if that had been you? The one that touched me the most was Night Four: An Open Letter To the Killer of Samantha B. An incredible twist at the end.
