I'm usually not one to leave reviews, but I was very disappointed in this purchase unfortunately. I make wood slice ornaments around Christmas, and the usual company I order from wouldn't be able to deliver the wood pieces in time, so I ordered 10 from this company - 5ARTH. I first noticed they were much softer than other wood slices I have received in the past, but they seemed to work fine. In the middle of painting, though, they started to split. I used 7 of the 10 I ordered, and all 7 became ruined. Obviously, I cannot deliver these to my customer, so I've essentially just lost the money and I wasted my time. I hate to leave a review like this, but it's such an unfortunate situation.

At first i was a little concerned that it wasnt real wood. Its very light and the bark feels like foam. Ive come to the conclusion that its some species of very soft pine. They cut very well on my scroll saw. They look very nice when finished. My family loves the ornaments i made and i will definitely buy more of these

5 of my 10 cracked when painted. The 3 shown were the worst. Thank goodness I only needed 4 of the 10 for my presents, but literally half of this purchase was wasted.
Update: after sitting overnight, 3 more cracked. So. 2 of 10 are intact.

These are a nice quality and adequate size for several different ornament options. It comes with twine but I ended up using my own because I’m not a fan of the orange string. The bark on the sides did flake a bit but I put a layer of mod podge along the edge to seal in and that worked very well. Overall, I’m satisfied with the quality and would buy again.

I ordered these to make Christmas Ornaments. After reading reviews I decided to prep the wood before painting on them. I used about 3-4 layers of Tung Oil to keep the wood from cracking. I waited maybe 30 minutes in between coats. Then after painting and and printing the picture, I used 3-4 layers of Mod Podge. Again, wait about 30 minutes in between coats. I also put Mod Podge on the sides. After doing this, the wood feels a lot sturdier than unfinished. I was very happy with the way these came out and cannot wait to give them as gifts.

These are rougher than the ones I purchased from Michaels. I have 20 commissions to do. This was my first time painting on these slices—the texture is flaky and messy, making it hard to match the realism I had on the michaels pine slice ornaments. After painting my first commission switching over to this product (see dog pic), and having the customer confirm their satisfaction, the wood cracked OVERNIGHT and I had to repaint the entire thing again. I was extremely careful to use very little water the next time. DO NOT USE ANY WATER. I promise you these will split to the center after wetting at all. I had no problems like this with the pine slices from michaels—ordering 4 more 5 packs now since they are more reliable. Just be aware the limits of this product. A good number for the money, but not worth losing hours of work on a faulty product.

I easily put a magnet in it so it shuts fully when closed. A mirror when opened.
They where expensive but I'd probably buy them again.
