The new installment in the Body Movers series!
When you gamble with the truth....
Carlotta Wren is off on another adventure - this time following a lead from her jailbird father to Los Vegas to find out what happened to her long-lost mother. Unaware of Carlotta's mission, her brother Wesley tags along with grandiose designs of winning big with a secret bag of cash he found. But as soon as the Wren siblings hit Sin City, their luck runs cold. A dead man spoils Carlotta's plan and before she knows it, the entire gang from Atlanta has descended to aid, abet, and aggravate. Wes has problems of his own when it turns out the found money belongs to seriously bad men who want it back.
You might lose more than you can afford....
With the odds stacked against them, Carlotta and Wes keep rolling the dice. Too late, Wes learns he's accidentally blown his father's case wide open. Someone wants the Wrens - all of them - to cash in their chips for good. And when Carlotta uncovers the real reason behind her parents' disappearance, it yanks her life in a new direction.

Peter and Carlotta are trying to give their lost romance another shot, and have gone to Vegas. Wes has been invited as well, and he in turn invited friends Chance and Hanna. Peter has business to attend to and so does Carlotta; she has reason to believe her mother is in the area. With her father in the federal prison at home. she believes her mother has information to set him free.
A whirlwind of happenings including a dead body in the safe of Carlotta's closet bring Cooper and Jack to Las Vegas to try and figure out who the stalker is. Before long Wes is in trouble and his lawyer (and Jack's baby's mama) comes out as well. There are so many twists and turns that you simply have to read this book to believe it! It finally ties up some loose ends that have been niggling at readers for several books.
I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who has read the series! If you have never read the books in the series, you are in for a real treat! Also finishing this book will result in a satisfied sigh! Fortunately, Stephanie Bond has promised that this isn't the end of the series!!! She will return with new stories! YAY!!
And that's where I almost moved this review to three stars. This book was short. I finished it in a couple hours (granted, I'm a fast reader, but it was still a very quick read for me). And the last 15-20% gave me whiplash Bc I felt like it was so rushed. I'm actually shocked that she's not considering this the end of the series with how it all wrapped up. Not that I'm sad, I really want Carlotta's relationships to be fleshed out and be able to see how they play out in a new reality that Ms. Bond has given us. But I think the rushed, almost frantically thrown-at-us plot of this book will temper my excitement a bit for book 9.
In the end, I give this four stars because I read it in one sitting, I laughed and got choked up. I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. Maybe I shouldn't have read the earlier books leading up to this release, because all the main characters that we've grown to love feel a little flatter than they used to. But I hold out hope that book 9 will give a fresh twist to a series that I've been loving for years, and will continue reading as long as she writes it.
***Spoilers***
Personally, I really hope Carlotta ends up with Coop. Peter doesn't deserve her. I don't think he'll ever truly put her first like she deserves. Jack is an arrogant jerk and if Carlotta ends up raising his kid (the kid that was only conceived out of Jack's selfish spitefulness to prove he wasn't in love with Carlotta) I'm going to be seriously ticked off. Carlotta deserves a lot better than that. Coop really let me down when he went off the rails, but he seems to be back on track in this last novel. He's a good friend and the only one of the 3 who I believe will put Carlotta and her needs first no matter what. I hope the Big Clue at the end of Book 8 as a lead up for Book 9 doesn't end up taking Coop out of the running for her affections. It has me worried. I might wait and read the reviews of the next book before purchasing if that is the case.
Enough of the negative. It's still was a great visit with characters who are like old friends. We finally get some answers about Carlotta's parents disappearance with an interesting surprise. There isn't any movement in Carlotta's love life. Even with the baby curveball thrown in book 7, I'm still kinda rooting for Jack. I was thrilled that Stephanie advised she is going to continue this series. With her family drama resolved, we still need to tune in to find out who Carlotta ends up with.
Although I had some disappointment, I still loved the story and enjoyed reading because I just couldn't put it down.

I won't give away any spoilers, but I really hope that Wesley finally gets his act together after this book as his continual screwing up is getting beyond irritating. I'm tempted to skip his chapters, but I can't because they can affect Carlotta's. Otherwise, I enjoyed the rest of the characters.
If you haven't read the previous books of the series, don't read this one as there is no point. You're missing 7 books of backstory that you need to follow this one.
I will still continue to read this series. Hopefully, with the main storyline wrapped up, Ms Bond will reboot the series with a juicy new storyline.
