my SO is an EMT so we started watching because they wanted to yell at the medical inaccuracies but we both got super hooked on the characters. its so refreshing to see male characters who can do things other than be violent, and a father and son who actually?? talk?? i mean yeah its unrealistic because we all know american men can't do that but it sure is nice to see. unlike all the people complaining about how its 'too PC' most of my family works in the medical field. sorry to burst y'all's bubble but trans people and muslims and gay folks are already in your hospitals and your ambulances and your firehouses. also i love judd and grace. they actually seem like a real married couple. yeah everything's not always perfect, but they love each other, and work through stuff. this show acknowledges the stuff that so many real americans deal with: lack of healthcare, trauma, mental illness, immigration, the tragedy of natural disasters. it doesn't preach anything it just admits that this is a reality for lots of people. i also like that its not so much "case of the week" the emergency calls are there to drive the story, and the characters.
also my SO says to put in my review that they love how many emergencies are because people just do the dumbest sh*t!
