In 2022, Dale released his third collection, “Foundations”, featuring a variety of short stories that have been featured in previously published anthologies, along with a brand new, exclusive tale.

In no particular order, M. Ennenbach terrifies readers in his tale of a terrible typewriter in “T is for Typewriter”. A poor soul is given a box of goods from an estate sale and discovers a mint condition typewriter amongst the knick-knacks and calls his old friend, excited about his haul. A struggling writer, he is now thrilled to have a tool of the trade on his lonely table. His joy is short-lived, however, as his friend soon finds out. “T is for Typewriter” is a must read.
“P is for Potato” is another one that made me gruesomely giggle in sordid shame. Patrick C. Harrison, III or PC3 as we love to call him, pens a tale of delicious disgust as a medical assistant has had enough of a patient's disturbing bodily functions. I was appalled and enthralled as this story grew roots in my mind. Another well-penned, gruesome gorey, ahem, story.
Another fun tale by Victor J. Beowulf, kicked off the collection with “A is for Aqua-Net”, with a title like that, how could I not love it? Big hair, big rock, big 80’s vibes, nothing like nostalgia to get the brain going except this tale was not what I expected. Poor Fernando is just a lonely guy with oddly specific things to live for, writing horror, and serial killer items. When a can of Aqua-Net arrives at his doorstep, he is overjoyed and inspired to use it that very night. It belonged to a former rock legend, Andy Asp, who was arrested for the murder of quite a few groupies, amongst other crimes. Fernando could not have guessed the ending to this story, had he written it himself.

As someone is bound to notice, no I can count, one author does have two stories. Which are both fantastic! Throughout this entire anthology you will be entertained by cursed/haunted objects, or things left behind. I was originally going to pick a top five from the anthology, but I didn’t have a single complaint. That is saying a lot from someone who doesn’t really care for short story anthologies, but Dawn only has quality stories in here. I promise you it is a fun ride! Not to mention, some authors are seasoned, some are new, and some simply new to me. Also, it is absolutely necessary to mention that Cerberus as a whole is here! Those who are unaware that would be Patrick C. Harrison III (PC3), M. Ennenbach, and Chris Miller. They have a three novella book titled Cerberus Rising, and I was sold after reading this. I have read a bit from some of these authors, and they are very talented and need to be checked out if you have not yet. All three have entries in DHP’s Splatter Western Series as well!
Now, I know I mentioned those three in particular, but I could praise each and every author for their work contributed to ABC’s of Terror Vol. III. However, that would take a while, and I have rambled enough. The theme of all the stories as stated center around cursed or haunted objects. These tales are fun, somewhat creepy, and very creative. I will say the letter V was pretty bloody, caught me off guard a little, and brilliant.
All in all, I absolutely have to give ABC’s of Terror Vol. III five brooches out of five lockets! I enjoyed every story, and I do not have a criticism. I think that sums it up. I do not want to give away any spoilers. Until next time, my friends.
