BOOK ONE - FORTRESS BRITAIN
When the Zombie Apocalypse came, one country had shut down its borders in response to a major terrorist attack. Now Fortress Britain is the last bastion of the living – with 50 million beleaguered survivors facing down a world of 7 billion animated corpses. And one international team of elite special operators – supremely trained and armed, always the most skilled, resolved, and unstoppable amongst us – are humanity's last best hope for survival...
BOOK TWO - MOGADISHU OF THE DEAD
Alpha team is tasked with one last desperate operation: they must cross the Atlantic aboard the world's only remaining supercarrier and insert by air into the very middle of a dead continent, all in search of a rumored vaccine that might bring humanity back from the brink. But their op goes dangerously wrong from the start, with the team scattered to hell and back, and their target site a dry hole. Now they must fight their way on foot through a city of 3 million ravening dead guys, in search of an underground bunker that might hold the Last Man on Earth. But these undead will not be like any Zulus they have ever fought before – and they surround the new target in a writhing ring of death 30 feet high on all sides...
BOOK THREE - THREE PARTS DEAD
Alpha team, the world's best and last surviving Tier-1 operators, are adrift on Lake Michigan - and fast drifting into what looks like a damned hostile shoreline. Deep in the National Forest nearby, a former police officer and survivalist battles to keep her family alive - and tries to decide whether the commandos of Alpha are more dangerous to her alive or dead. Meanwhile, the John F. Kennedy, the world's last floating supercarrier, is run aground off the coast of Virginia - and facing a veritable hurricane of the dead, blowing in fast. Finally, back in Fortress Britain, the terrible outbreak from the Channel Tunnel turns out not to have been so contained after all – and a death grip is beginning to close on London, and shaping up into humanity's very last stand...
The battle for humanity starts here – in the first three volumes of the most explosive and thrilling military ZA series on Earth.

And the zombies- Jeesh! The action was fast paced with so many twists and emotional moments, including surprise deaths and near misses. I often had to put the book down when things became especially intense, but couldn’t leave it down for long.
Absolutely recommend without question!
*SPOILERS*
I like the characters and the tough situations that they have to battle through. What I liked...
* The characterizations are solid. Each person has a decent backstory and can be seen as an individual.
* The psychological pressure on the team was well described. I particularly enjoyed how the head Marine dealt with so many of his team sacrificing themselves for the greater good.
* The concept of a "zombie storm" was freaky and unsettling (though I didn't believe it when it "built" a column of zombies in a few seconds to swat a *manned* plane out of the sky).
* Every LaMoE (last man on earth) they ran across was interesting.
* I will continue reading the series even though I have a few complaints (see below).
A few complaints in no particular order...
* The Captain of the Carrier helps save the day at the 11th hour but is then unceremoniously ignored afterward. We never hear about him again nor does the XO (Drake) ever really talk about him. The guy just shanghied 200 people from the crew to pull his fire-fighting foam trick and *saves the ship* yet the XO doesn't have even a brief scene with him where he thanks him for it?
* The reasoning and explanation given for why the Alpha team stops to help that crew in the middle of Lake Michigan is very weak and unbelievable. They have a scientist who can potentially cure the world but they needlessly expose him because the team needs to find their own humanity? No way. If we are to believe that these "operators" are so excellent, they wouldn't make such a bad choice.
* The outbreak in the Hereford hospital was ridiculous. The nurse let herself get bitten by a person suspected of infection? Really? They shackle their arms and legs but somehow neglect to add a simple bite guard? Why are we expected to believe these people who have survived so much can remain so stupid?
* Planning the operation to Chicago would have included some contingency plans. Their pickup by plane didn't happen yet they weren't aware that they could use the marina as a backup to get onto the lake? They dropped their pallet of ammo into the Lake but didn't consider how they would retrieve it? Sloppy writing.
* The Alpha team, which regularly reminds us is focused on "Mission First," somehow fails to make sure that their retrieval of the vaccine data (plus scientist) doesn't get delivered to the backup ship. Instead, most of them parachute onto the carrier to fight and never give a single thought to making sure the scientist is safe. Nor do they hand off the backup copies of his data to any superiors for safe-keeping or distribution of the data to other ships & subs. Again, hard to believe these operators would forget about their mission before it's completed. Stuff like this helps undermine the veracity of the military descriptions while adding no additional suspense to the story.
This series came recommended to me because I am a huge fan of post-apocalyptic stories, to include zompoc books, and also a Brayniac (R.C. Bray fan). I have had it in my library for some time but my squirrel brain kept shifting around (as always happens with any book I listen to) my listening order.
I loved the detail about the different zombies and I really enjoyed the military aspect and details incorporated throughout. Overall, this omnibus did not disappoint although the first book had a few sections that left me feeling as though some of the detail could have been cut out. What I mean by that is there were points where a large amount of back story was provided that I felt didn't really contribute to my enjoyment of the story. All of that said, once the main character base was built I felt the story picked up quite a bit.
R.C. Bray, as usual, did a wonderful job and I will definitely be moving on to the remainder of the series as I can't wait to see what happens.

Fortress Britain - I must admit at first I was a bit overwhelmed by the military tech jargon in the ebook Arisen – Fortress Britain. I started to wonder if it was a bit too much for me but then gradually I found the humanity that is also apparent in the story. Soon I was hooked on the action and mayhem and became sympathetic to the characters. The time spent filling out the back story elements gives this zombie Armageddon novel a depth which most end of the world tales lack. I am a fan of Glynn James’s Diary of the Displaced books but Arisen is something with a military heart which the co-author Michael Stephen Fuchs obviously provides. The novel confidently lays the foundations for what is to come.
Mogadishu of the Dead - Book two in the Arisen zombie series follows on directly from events in book one and drops the reader straight into the action. This time round the main focus is on Alpha team who drop into the undead city of Chicago looking for a cure to the zombie virus. With a lot of the back story covered in book one, book two is a straight forward rollercoaster of action and adventure. Once again the military tech jargon can be overwhelming but persevere and the characters really do start to shine through the carnage and mayhem.
Three Parts Dead - After the Chicago mission a weary Alpha team try to make their way back to the main task force, while across the sea the virus spreads into Britain. These books really are a vibrant blast of action and adventure. Interesting new characters are introduced in this book making the story grow and develop.
This omnibus edition of the first three books in the series is a great way to introduce readers to the saga and one collection I would highly recommend. To summarise these novels are smooth and slick pieces of fiction that tower over the sea of undead ebooks. Enjoy.

I liked that there was no waiting around as the stories from Fortress Britain Mogadishu of the Dead and Three Parts Dead merge so seamlessly together.
The story takes the reader on a trans Atlantic non stop whirl wind that has you reading well past bedtime!
Love the range of characters that we encounter and the knowledge of military tactics/slang and operation gives it as realistic a feel as a Zombie book can get!
next in series already picked up hope the action follows right through because if it does this will be some story!!
