To most folks in the little Midwestern town, Abigail and Zack are a normal girl and her pet dog. But what few of them notice is how she carries on long, one-sided conversations with the plucky Boston Terrier, and she never attends school. They also don’t realize she wears a unique pink scarf year-round that seems to have a shifting pattern.

Luckily for those same townspeople, the two friends are fully aware of everything that happens in their community. So when they discover the grand opening of a sinister new business, and a dozen innocent citizens go missing, Abigail & Zack are the only ones standing between a scheming, greedy doctor and their small town’s future.

David Rider is the author of "Tweakers, Crane Girl and the Semi-pocalypse" on Kindle. He has also written stories for Sinister Smile Press. We Are Van Helsing Books One and Two are his first novels.

He grew up in Calumet City, Illinois, where the smiley-face water towers never looked the same after a leering stranger in a green sedan invited young David for a ride. (He declined.)

He now lives with his wife and kids in a rural Midwestern town that has no smiling faces on the water towers…only the scowling faces of dark entities lurking within the surrounding cornfields.

He sometimes busts out a costume and Photoshop for pretentious author pictures.
