About the Author
Mike Rowe is one of three sons born to John and Peggy Rowe, both teachers. He is a television host and narrator known for his work on the Discovery Channel series Dirty Jobs and the CNN series Somebody’s Gotta Do It. He hosts a Facebook series called Returning the Favor in which he finds people doing good deeds and does something for them in return. He also hosts the podcast The Way I Heard It with Mike Rowe, which he describes as “short stories designed specifically for the curious mind plagued with a short attention span.” Rowe has narrated programs for the Discovery Channel, The Science Channel, and National Geographic Channel such as Deadliest Catch, How the Universe Works, and Shark Week.

Of course, I enjoyed when Peggy talked about places in Overlea and Fullerton MD that I knew very well but you don't have to be a Baltimorean in order to enjoy this book! It is witty and fun and gives an inside look at the wonderful childhood that Mike Rowe and his brothers were fortunate enough to enjoy. Peggy tells about her life with John in such a loving but truthful way that the reader has a true picture of the wonderful man she married so many years ago. He may have some quirks but they only make him more endearing. I have to admit, I recognized some traits of John's in my own father!
This is such a refreshing and charming book! I would so love to actually know Peggy and sit and chat with her. She is a very talented storyteller and from her writing it is evident she is also a talented and loving wife and mother. She makes me so proud that she and her family are fellow Baltimoreans! I only hope she continues to share her family stories with us in many more books to come!
