I hate this movie. My kids love it. They talk to me out of thier butt now. They keep saying “like a glove”. I blame their father.

Only one beef with this. One of our favorite scenes was cut out, what the heck?? Snowflakes empty tank scene. Why would they do that??? Other than that, love this movie🐬🎬🐾📽💞📽🎬🐾🐬

I saw Ace Ventura as a kid and remember laughing a lot throughout the movie. So I turned it on when I saw it was available for free with Amazon Prime. I chuckled a few times but mostly cringed and rolled my eyes. The humor hasn't aged well and the protagonist is ridiculous (not in a good way). The things he does aren't believable in the slightest and neither are the reactions from the other characters. I should have left this movie in the rear view mirror of my childhood. I recommend others do the same.

Hands down my all-time favorite Jim Carrey movie!

Both Ace Ventura's are fantastic and hilarious, but the original is the original and it will always hold up as one of the all time best comedies ever to grace the silver screen!

This reminds me that life was very different in the 90s and that I can have rose-tinted glasses for the days I grew up in. I only remember a few scenes from this movie whereas all my favorite moments are from the sequel.

Most of the time I felt completely put off or perplexed by Ace's behavior. Seed shells on the desk? Calling the main love interest fat like a 12 year old, only for her to laugh it off later like it's charming? The weird gratuitous sex / joke scenes were beyond me. Not to mention all the overboard reactions to a sex change, even for the time.

Regardless of how you feel about the issues that didn't age well, I felt like this movie was about 30% enjoyable and 70% skip-worthy. It's a real shame to hurt my nostalgia, but I'm looking forward to watching the second movie again.

This movie is really a waste of time (unlike some of Jim Carey’s other movies). Most good comedies involve extreme exaggeration, timing, and a halfway decent plot that keeps the audience intrigued. Silly slapstick antics with sexual overtones is pretty stale and they’re outdated for today’s market. Despite Carey’s unique physical attributes and talents, this movie fails in every way.

Ace Venture understood what a talent they had with Jim Carrey and just let him go. He was one of the co-writers as well which also helped. The movie is not as hilarious as I remember it when it came out. Some of the bits come off stupid to me now but overall it’s a fun ride. Carrey was good at both physical comedy, faces, voices and delivering lines making him a multiple threat. That’s all featured in Ace Ventura.

Beware: This Amazon version is missing the whole Heinz getzvelvet dolphin trainer scene.
