I was a little disappointed to see there were no case fans. When using the computer to process some video projects, the CPU would have to down clock to keep the temps around 82C. Removing the side panel during this intensive workload solved the issue. I was further disappointed to see that the extra fan header does not have enough power for a standard 12 volt fan. You will need a 92mm 5v fan. The cooling is adequate for day to day use: documents, web browsing, videos, etc. Those tasks won't warm up the machine at all. However, when I build machine, I make sure the PC can operate at 100% without compromising temperature. Thermal throttling is loss performance, which increases processing time on intensive editing tasks. Even if Acer added a ten dollar fan, this would still be a great deal.
Some also wonder if this PC could be the base for a gaming computer. Yes, it certainly can. The CPU and memory would be great in a gaming PC. But, you will need a dedicated graphics card like a GTX 1650 Super or a GTX 1660. You will also need a bigger power supply and some better cooling. When you add the cost of a graphics card, power supply, and cooling, you're probably at the cost of a pre-built gaming tower. You should probably go that route instead.
For a home office PC, I highly recommend this setup. It can also handle some pretty intensive video processing given you address the cooling to make sure it stays running at its max clock speed.
Like any pre-built Windows PC, there is some bloatware. Just remove all programs by Acer, McAfee, and Norton. This takes about 10 minutes.

The Good Stuff:
i5 9400 - great processor with scores that compete with my high-end gaming PC
12GB of ram - in this price point 8GB is more popular however this will be mentioned in the cons as well
512GB NVMe - I wasn't expecting it to be in this form factor but it was a nice surprise
Included hard drive mounting screws and sata cable - and I added a 3TB hard drive for extra storage with ease
The Bad Stuff
12GB of ram - Personally I'm not a fan of miss-matched ram, I wish the would have used 2 8GB sticks rather than a 4GB and 8GB stick
Cooling - So for my uses the desktop never turns off and at idle the processor is around 53C and at a mild load around 79C I will be adding more fans to increase the airflow since it only has a fan on the processor but if this is going to be your media computer and stored in a closed space keep cooling in mind.
All in all, this is a great mid-ranged pc with some great features and makes a great home computer
I have been running 24/7 and after about a week I added a larger cooler and my temps have come way down to the mid 40's Celcius and the system has been very stable without any issues.
This is probably my last update but after another week or so of running my temps have stayed in the mid 30’s and dropping to the high 20’s which I’m very happy with. This computer has been running non-stop and has done over 8tb of internet traffic in the last two weeks (I have a gigabit fiber internet connection).
All in all I am still very happy with this pc and highly recommend it.
I thought I would give another update on this solid little beast. I have upgraded the ram to 16GB's and now running some more software on it as well. Currently inside the box I have a 8TB drive along with the pre-installed 512GB NVMe and then a disk array with 12TB of storage in it. Current software includes:
Plex Media Server - This as all of my media and personal movies and photos on it
Unifi Controller - This is a network management software that manages my home network and my friends and families houses as well
Fileshare Server - I have a disk array connected to it for a total of 20TB of storage space
Cloud backup - It backs up to the cloud every hour so all of my personal data is secure
I also run a linux VM in windows Hyper-V that runs pi-Hole that blocks ads on my home network
Over the last 2 months I haven't had to restart it other than some windows updates and it has been a solid performer.
I had really anticipated replacing this with another small form factor server like the one this replaced but this sips power and has been very reliable, so until I need something more this is going to keep doing its thing....
in writing this review, the only thing i’m upset about is noticing that all 17 prior reviewers received a free system!
- Boot up time is about 15 seconds thanks to the SSD. Windows 10 is finally seems like a decent OS!
- It has an old fashion VGA port and 2 HDMI ports for video. Newer monitors seem to be going to HDMI. My monitor was flashing on and off at first, so I switched HDMI ports, and it has been fine ever since.
- The included keyboard is the low travel laptop style. Some people complain about it, but I actually prefer it. I am able to type faster with less errors. You can always switch keyboards if you do not like it.
- Windows 10 forces you to log on to a Microsoft account to set it up, but you can switch back to a local account later.
- It comes with Norton, which can easily be uninstalled because the Windows 10 anti virus is fine. Other than that, there is very little junk software.
- The exact same configuration on other brands seems will cost significantly more. I do not know how Acer is able to offer a large SSD at such a good price.

I've only had it for a week, but everyday use like multiple tabs (office applications, teleconferencing, etc.) is handled no problem. I've used it a little bit for playing early 2000's strategy games and I was almost shocked at how smooth it was (I was using a 2012 laptop previously to play). So far my only regret is that I didn't get a desktop when I first started working from home.
I use this pc for browsing, streaming, and productivity and I gotta say, its pretty good.
With the additional 12 gb ram, I'm able to open more tabs which is nice. I havent had any issues with the product so I am unable to tell you about that.
Overall, pretty good product. Okay for light gaming. But if you plan on just using this for office work while browsing the internet while using it for streaming its pretty good.
