5.0 out of 5 starsI Have Had This Monitor for 3 Years.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 19, 2023
I bought this monitor back in 2019 december so its just been about 3 years. I am still using it as I speak and its been an awesome monitor. No dead pixels or anything, the only thing that has bugged me with this monitor is a group of atleast 2 or 3 stuck pixels that will be on my screen but to fix it all I do is barely push on my monitor where the pixel is and it goes away for a while, itll come back in weeks to months later but its not a huge deal to me, still a great monitor for the price.

3.0 out of 5 starsToo much work & tinkering out of the box
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 3, 2022
For starters, the monitor itself along with the bezel is much thicker than I thought. The monitor has built in speakers but they are essentially useless as the quality is so poor and they give off an annoying hiss. Im not sure if it's the monitor's fault but I should note that the gsync seems incredibly inconsistent giving performance boosts in some games and performance hits in others. Lastly, my biggest issue was the half hour of tinkering I had to do with the display settings in order to make the display not look blurry, dried and gray.

To the monitor's credit once I got the colors and sharpness where I wanted them, gaming was actually very enjoyable and the bezel disappeared into the background better than I thought. The pivots and swivels are very smooth and satisfying to adjust and can help maintain proper posture for those who struggle with posture while sitting. There is also hardly any if any back pannel light bleed. Which was an issue on my previous viotek monitor, so this monitor definitely wont be emitting any seemingly unnecessary light bleed.

Some settings that made the image and display quality improve: swapping out of the preset color temp immediately brings more color and less gray. Super sharpening severely decreases the blurriness and brings a much more crisp image. The user color profile is aslo very balanced and neutral. And lastly slightly decreasing the black levels make darks and blues much more crisp and natural, taking a lot of gray out.

2.0 out of 5 stars out of the box defective, and in less than 24 hours of use I got a dead pixel
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 2, 2023
Size: 23.8-inch 165Hz HASVerified Purchase
Poor QC resulted in this monitor being shipped defective with thin lines ever few rows of pixels (I had this same issue with a Mac display so I was quick to notice) and in less than 24 hours of the display being used I have already received a dead pixel, I am assuming these issues are from a faulty internal power supply as the brightness flickers on the display at some points. I'll update my review when the replacement arrives however dealing with returns and a faulty unit leaves a sour taste in my mouth. However at this price for a name brand monitor for 2022 its still a good deal, if the replacement model is not defective as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Vertical striping hardware quality issue
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 18, 2022
Size: 24-inchVerified Purchase
After 1-1.5 years, monitor quality of 2 out of 3 monitors makes them unusable.

Awful vertical striping throughout the screens, no help from their support, not resolved through resolution changes or new cables -- there is some major hardware quality problem with these...

My review was rejected for an unknown reason, so I did not re-attach the photo of the problem. Just be aware that these monitors have a serious issue that may only appear after Amazon's return window has closed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great for one year, then bled out

This monitor was a great work from home workhorse for me for just over a year. It died yesterday, and as I picked it up to move off my desk, found a puddle of some sort of oil where the base had been sitting.

Concerned now for possible toxicity that may have seeped into my not-very-cheap desk! Here’s hoping the bleach I have on hand did a good job. But who knows how long I’ve been working around whatever that goo was. Yikes.

So this was a great monitor… until it wasn’t.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good quality monitor but hard to recommend.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on June 29, 2020
Size: 24-inchVerified Purchase
It’s hard to recommend this monitor. I received my first one with a dead pixel on arrival which I noticed not even 10 minutes into use. But I wasn’t willing to let one bad monitor ruin the experience for me. So I requested a replacement, and when I received a new one it had a white spot at the top of the monitor. However that wasn’t enough for me to call it quits. I continued to use the monitor for another week until I was running some benchmarks which required me to turn off G-Sync. Which didn’t cause any problems until I turn G-Sync back on which caused a dead pixel to appear. I don’t think it’s a problem with G-Sync, it’s a problem with how the monitor wants to be able to run G-Sync and AMD Freesync. The store page claims to be G-Sync compatible but when you receive the item, the packaging only says that it is Freesync compatible. I am convinced now that I have gone through two of these monitors, that these monitors are not truly compatible with G-Sync which is causing these monitors to to damage themselves.

Despite all of those problems, the overall quality of the monitor is great. When you receive the monitor is has a blue light filter enabled by default but with a little bit of tweaking with the settings you can get rid of that easily. The refresh rate is smooth at 144 hz with very little tracing or motion blur. Sadly it is not oveclockable to 165 hz, and any attempt to do so will cause the screen to go black until the refresh rate gets changed back to 144 hz. Despite the problems that G-Sync may cause, if you can turn it on without damaging you monitor it is well worth it. G-Sync offers a much smoother experience with virtually no screen tearing to be seen and you can expect the same with AMD Freesync if you are on team Red.

Final conclusions, the monitor is great for the price and offers a lot more features than I was expecting. However the dead pixels make it hard for me to recommend seeing as I have now had to return two of these monitors.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ugly and wouldn't work
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 22, 2019
Size: 24-inchVerified Purchase
I bought this G-Sync monitor and was extremely excited to get it up and running. The minute I got home from work and plugged it into my video card, things started to go south. First off, my second monitor which was plugged into my VC via HDMI was no longer recognized. I went to reboot to see if that would fix the problem and suddenly my computer had a crash dump, which it hasn't had in 3 years. Once the crash dump was finished processing I decided to reinstall my video card drivers to see if that would fix the issue. Once again, I rebooted, and once again, I got a crash dump. Something about this monitor was conflicting with my video card. I decided to give up on trying to fix that and instead moved on to see how the monitor impacted my gameplay. I booted up Diablo 3 and was prepared to be blown away--but no change. I started to google "how to set up my G-sync monitor." Pages upon pages of instructions until I finally found a simple process. I opened my NVidia control panel and went to the place where enabling G-Sync was supposed to be and it wasn't there. I even verified through the NVidia site that my video card supported G-Sync so I was at a loss. Another googled webpage told me to turn on Vertical Sync via my NVidia control panel and that that would enable G-Sync---once again to no avail. I finally called a computer expert friend of mine for some help. He remoted in and tried to do all the same steps I did and wasn't able to find any option to enable G-Sync. He was though, able to go into my monitor setting and turn it up to 144hz, which DID look amazing. But no G-sync for gameplay.

So that's all the technical headache. Aesthetically, this monitor has much to be desired and is really showing its age. The monitor is thick, with a thick frame. Doesn't match the look and feel of modern, sleeker monitors. Looked like an ugly stepchild when sitting next to my Dell monitor.

Pros:
144hz looks nice
Very reasonable price for a monitor

Cons:
Very difficult to get working properly
Not compatible with some NVidia video cards
Ugly aesthetics

2.0 out of 5 stars Great monitor, lackluster warranty
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 8, 2019
Size: 24-inchVerified Purchase
First off, the monitor itself is great. I have no complaints about the color/performance of this monitor. It has performed great and compared to many of the more expensive gaming monitors, the price is very reasonable. It does benefit to go through a color calibration process on your computer when you get it. By default, the monitor is a bit bright and washed out, but through calibration, you can get some really vivid and full colors from this thing.

Anyway, the reason for the negative review is regarding the warranty. I purchased this in October of 2018 and one day only 9 months later the monitor would not work; it kept saying no signal. I called up their support number and got on the phone with someone and after going through a lengthy troubleshooting session.

Firstly, I was talking with a person who I had a really hard time understanding. Between my kids making noise in the background, the quality of the phone call, and the accent of the person, I had to ask him to repeat everything he said for most everything. It was difficult, but I managed.

After going through all possible solutions, he said that I'd need to send it in to be repaired. They would not send a call tag to have the monitor picked up at their expense. Instead, I would have to send it in at my own expense, and in the meantime, I'd have to either find a different monitor to use or be without a monitor for 7-10 days.

I decided instead of paying for the return shipping to instead put that money toward a new monitor. Before buying a replacement, I kept trying to make the original monitor work, and fortunately, I have been able to get it working again (not really sure what made it work again), so I have not had to purchase a replacement.

Again, I cannot say anything bad about the monitor, as long as it is functioning, but if you end up having to get it replaced, do not expect a great experience. Their policy of me having to pay (even if it's just the shipping) to have it repaired is not acceptable to me, particularly within such a short window.

2.0 out of 5 stars ive had this since 2019, im pretty dissatisfied with it

**** Update, 3 years now, im replacing it with an MSI monitor, i still think this is a fairly solid monitor over all. But i still cant get the colors right. i have spent most of the time with this monitor having the light colors washed out because i need to see in dark areas in my games.

The three hundred price point for this is way too high. if you get it on sale and it ticks all your boxes go for it, but there are way better monitors for less money.

**** original review*** On paper this monitor has everything you could want, 144hz, dp and hdmi input, basic speakers if you dont have any other ones, audio pass through, vsync.... all the bells and whistles... but i can NOT get the colors to look right on this... the worst part is the darks are way too dark, i try to compensate with nvidia control panel settings, but if i adjust the settings to make dark colors look good the light colors get washed out. if i adjust the light colors to look right, all the dark colors are just black and you cant see anything in dark videogames, shows, or movies..... i would not buy it again.

other than the color settings issues, its has everything you could want... if i ever figure out the color settings ill update my review, but ive already had this monitor for almost 2 years now i think? and i mess with it frequently and cant get it right so dont hold your breath.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not even as good as my >10 year old Dell monitor
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 4, 2022

I can forgive its colors as maybe too different to line up to what I'm used to as somehow the oddball out of at least six monitors, two tablets, and four phones I've used in the last eight years, but what really gets negative points are how it interacts with the operating system. In my experience, when other external monitors are off, the system still recognizes them as connected, and the monitor comes to life as soon as the computer is back on. This thing takes its sweet time turning on when the computer turns on or when its own power is turned back on. When off, it might as well be disconnected. That is, if turned off while the computer is on, Windows will shift all apps to my other monitor as though the cable has been removed. No other external monitor I've used has this behavior. While these are mild nuisances in the grand scheme of things, why suffer when there are no notable positives and countless other monitor options out there?

the best thing about this is the stand, it's terrific!
This was sent back to Acer under warranty after 5 months of use. they had me test a few things before sending. It was returned stating that they couldn't find anything wrong. Its still flickering red lines across horizontally. I called back, they are stating it must be my HDMI cable, I've replaced, still doing same thing. They kept my original box when returning, now I can't even return again without paying for lots of packing and shipping. Display port dead from the get go.
