Addams Family Values Synopsis:

It's love at first fright when Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston) welcome a new addition to the Addams household -- Pubert, their soft, cuddly, mustachioed baby boy. As Fester (Christopher Lloyd) falls hard for voluptuous nanny Debbie Jilinksy (Joan Cusack), Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) discover she's a black-widow murderess who plans to add Fester to her collection of dead husbands. Yes! Both Addams Family on blu-ray. Why it took so long to pair these together as they should have been paired like this during the inaugural blu-ray who can say but it’s done and the price is excellent. What makes these films even more enjoyable is it’s clearly evident Raul Julia and Angelica Houston clearly relished these roles and were having the time of their lives.

Yes, some extras would have been nice, or digital copies. But, my main concern are the films. Both movies on two separate discs is great. The acting in both films is very good, in my opinion. I like these movies a decent amount back in the day. Upon re-watching, the 1st film just didn't make me laugh much at all. The jokes are repeated & predictable. Not terrible, just very meh. The 2nd film film however got me laughing. The juxtaposition between "normal" society & the misfit family is exactly what the 1st movie needed & mostly lacked. Also, I love special features; it's a big reason why I still buy physical. This double feature has ZERO special features. Major bummer. Overall, a bit disappointing but not terrible for the price

They're Creepy And They're Spooky, And Altogether Hilarious!

There's a reason why these two movies are still considered classic Halloween viewing fare for most Americans... They're perfect. Perfect cast. Perfect story. Perfect original supporting characters. Perfect performances. Perfect morbid laughs. And they both followed and deviated from the source material... perfectly.

Although each character was written using the original as a template, they didn't attempt to photocopy the original's take on it. Instead, each gave their own spin. Raoul Julia's performance is nothing like John Astin's, and yet both are the quintessential Gomez. Christina Ricci didn't even try for Lisa Loring's Wednesday Addams: aiming instead for Winona Ryder's Lydia Dietz from Beetlejuice. Although Judith Molina was great as the first grandmother, nobody could beat Carol Kane. And Joan Cusack was the ultimate accessory for the second movie as Debbie Jelinsky.

If these movies don't make you laugh, you haven't got a funny bone. These are must-haves!

The cast is pitch perfect and the stories are suitably darker than the original TV show. But the main tropes of that show carry over quite nicely into these big budget adaptations. There would probably have been more if Roul Julia had not died of a heart attack.
There was an animated feature version that came out later. But it holds no interest for me. There was also a lack luster TV reboot attempted in color with a cast of unknowns. It was hollow at best and deserves no attention.
