He was married twice and both had cheated on him. The only that let him be in control is BDSM. He gets what he thinks he needs from the few sub that he has what he needs.
Laurel Daley is the sister of the good doctor Will Daley. Her youth wasn't so great either. She doesn't know who her father is. Her mother is a drug addict who is in jail for trying to sell drugs. When she was young Will did his best that he could to raise her and their other 2 sisters, she had feed an old dog that used to hang around the trailer park that they used to live in. They kept the dog until it died of old age.
The first time Laurel saw Mitch, she knew that she wanted him. Mitch wants her too, but he knows he isn't good for her. Mitch doesn't trust women that much cause of his past. Cause the women in his past didn't seem to want him or they were using him for whatever reason.
Laurel went to work for Mitch. He had to convince her to become a paralegal. Mitch had to her that if she wants to go law school and he would pay for it and she would be able to keep her job, just like she did when she became a paralegal.
Laurel loves being a paralegal. She also made to the office when she was the office manger Mitch hated them at first but then he came around to the changes. That's why Laurel in time she could bring him around and help change his mind about being with her. ( side note Mitch doesn't like changes or anything that is no in his normal routine. )
One Patrick Dixon stopped by Mitch's office to let him know that his brother Harvey Dixon wants him died. Cause some solar project that Harvey had worked on in the past. Patrick seemed to be a bit nervous about the whole thing. That should have been a red flag for Mitch but he just thought the boy was afraid of his brother.
While Mitch was in with Patrick talking about his brother, telling him how his brother wants to kill him for helping another company.
Mean while Mitch's half brother Flynn is trying to get in touch with him because their father is dying. Mitch's father wants to talk to him before he dies. Not only that Mitch's other half brother Chase is getting bullied for being gay. ( Which is not okay do bytheway ) The kids at Chase's private school set up a fake profile and catfished him. Now Chase has been doing things that he shouldn't. He even asked their dad could he go to a public school but the dad said no.
Can't wait to see what comes next
We open with the twice-married, twice-divorced Mitch staring at his ringing phone. He wants to reach through it and throttle the caller. Too-young Laurel has just been accepted at Sanctum for training. Just the thought of another man's hands on her makes him want to kill the messenger. "Kai, deny her application!" "Sorry, man. Too late." At her sister's wedding (where he tried to warn the bride that her groom was gay) it was clear Laurel wanted him; but she was his paralegal! Nope. Nada. Never. Then his little head had to butt in...as usual. But he was too rough, too hard; and she was just a kid. Why did she want him? Okay, I guess there are two sides to every story.
The h was childish, pathetic, and wheedled her way into a relationship. The H was a hot mess of insecurities. Loaded with tactless cruelty, the H was completely incapable of having the slightest idea of a relationship. For some reason, his "brilliance" as a lawyer and his sad childhood meant it was ok to be a big ol' Richard. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the h wanted him. On top of all this, the H constantly referred to himself as "old" when he wasn't even 40. The plot was super soft and couldn't have been much weaker.
I know this is an older book, but do yourself a favor a read something else by this gifted author. This one nlows.
