The Adventurer (Mountains Series Book 7) Kindle Edition
She's always been up for an adventure.
But there's one mountain she never intended to climb.
Rachel Brock is a free spirit, but motherhood, marriage, and her office management job have taken a toll on her through the years. She seems to have forgotten herself along the way. Now her husband Jack is trying to bring back the old Rachel, and she insists everything is fine...
Connor Hayes is the heir apparent to his father's successful adventure tourism company--or is he? He's had to jump through a series of hoops to prove his competence, and his employee Rachel has been instrumental in helping him.
He and Rachel are simply boss/employee. Friends at the most, right? Until he makes her an offer she can't refuse. As for where their relationship is heading?
They'll cross that bridge when they come to it.

Phoebe is a master at developing these spaces she places her characters in and being able to describe them in such a way that you are transported into the room with them. The Lodge WOW! What or who do I have to do to get an invite to that place!
I love that sexuality is interwoven in a way that it is not “taboo”. It’s discussed frankly and honestly between the characters. The interactions between Rachel and Jake, her husband for me seemed like a realistic depiction of a loving relationship. I liked that there were convos Rachel had with him where his tone or answer was not all butterfly and rainbows it was real. They had very real and honest conversations and worked together.
Now the connection Rachel has with Connor was fun! There was heat and sparks. It was two people that were feeling things but fighting those feels which pulled each of them off center. It was fun to watch and even more fun to see all work out.
Rachel has seen some changes in recent years (new job, baby) and her friends and husband feel like she has lost herself. Jack, her husband, is trying to help her get some of herself back but she sees it as a way to get something for himself. Enter Connor - her boss’ boss. He comes in to the office with a story to test her to see if she is ready for a promotion. What she doesn’t expect is that he has another side to his life that will help her get back to herself.
Connor is a broken man that is trying to keep things together to try to get his father to name him as his successor to their family business. After getting some devastating news, he and his father come up with an idea that needs Rachel’s hep with. What he doesn’t expect is that she will help fix him!
Phoebe does an amazing job of making the characters feel real and that you are right there with them. You feel their emotions when they go through them and want to wrap them up and hold them close. Very well written book that is very much worth the read!!
I do recommend this book to anyone that needs an escape. I just want to Thank the Author for this wonderful story!

And I could also see so much of myself in Rachel, a mature woman, wife and mother who hadn't yet figured out and what she was, and what she really needed to make her happy.
I knew something was going to happen between Rachel and Connor, but the continuing twists and turns of the plot kept me surprised (and guessjng) until the end.
I'd recommend this to anyone, male or female, who enjoys good writing.
