The introduction by G.K. Chesterton is very good and although the fables are mainly text, it is a far better translation than many of the other editions that have pictures and where some of the meaning is lost. But If you want the fables explained, this is not the version to get as only a few of them have the moral printed at the end and some are quite obscure. I would not give this to a very young child but it is really good value, not least for the sheer number of them. 284!!
