THERE ARE NO SUBTITLES SO DON'T ORDER THIS IF YOU DON'T HEAR WELL.

I would like a refund. Most streaming films of any age now have subtitles so I didn't pay enough attention to the details of this one.

Lots of Soft Porn and a silly plot

Opening with aftermath (title) of British bomber attack on Hamburg that destroyed the city and left 40,000 dead.
Then descended into many sex scenes and a plot that went nowhere and ended predictably. Waste of money

i loved everything about it. love that there were no bad poeple just people with so much pain doing the best the could to heal and helping each other to do so. i am a forever huuuuge fan of keira knightly, not sure what period piece movies will do once she retires because she the meryl streep of period movies. she is one of the best actresses in the world, and aint it funny she started it out with bend it like beckam haha. alexander is wonderful in his role as well and i can't remind the name of the other fellow who is wonderfully kind in character and well played as i have seem him play a bad guy as well so this is a wonderful stretch. overall i loved this movie as much or even more than i though i would. cannot see enough movies with keira knightly to be honest.

I don’t know why this movie wasn’t around in the theaters for a long time. It has an excellent plot with fantastic actors.

Beautiful Acting, Halfway Plot

To be fair, the lead actors in this movie are fantastic. They displayed wonderful emotion that just made you feel everything that they were feeling, right in the moment. They brought you into the arguments and into the sorrow. That alone is hard to do and should be truly appreciated. Now the plot, as it stands, I feel only halfway told the story. Yes, the focus is on the characters Rachel and her turmoil between her husband and her German roommate. But I feel that with the title, it should have explored more into what the German population was going through after the Nazi defeat and those who still supported the regime. It did show some moments but I feel that there was more to explore.
All in all, when taken at face value, the movie is well done in showing the turmoil and emotional toll on the lead characters and focuses well on those personal stories. The story arch is well thought out, if not a bit predictable. It is an enjoyable drama that gives a glimpse into what some lives were like after WWII and how no matter who "wins" the war, there are truly no winners, only those who survive and start new.

Not quiet authentic

Well acted although the story is a bit too Hollywood and superficial. I wished it would have addressed more of the affects of the aftermath of (any) war on people...
