Alaska Spark: A Friends to Lovers Workplace Romance (Blazing Hearts Wildfire Series) Kindle Edition
Can a chance encounter on a wildfire lead to true love under the midnight sun?
Tara Waters loves being a wildland firefighter and the adrenaline rush of fighting wildfires is her calling. She must be on her game to join an elite hotshot crew in Montana. But when Tara is sent to fight fires in Alaska, her dream falls out of reach.
Sexy Alaskan smokejumper, Ryan O’Connor takes Tara under his wing and counsels her when she fails to save someone on a wildfire. She owes him one, but not her heart just because of his irresistible charm and good looks. Ryan has his own story with plenty of demons in his past. And Tara may be the spark his life needs.
But when a mysterious adversary sabotages Tara on the fire line, she discovers a threat more dangerous than fire—a threat that can destroy everything she’s worked for and second chance for love that could be extinguished before it ignites.
Romance, sabotage, and fire can be a deadly mix!
From the Publisher
My real firefighting adventures when I fought Wildland Fire in the Alaskan Wilderness!
Aerial Firefighting on an Alaskan Interior Fire.
The pilot helped us out with his plane, "Jaws" when our crew became trapped by a runaway fire. He dumped a load of fire retardant next to us to buy us time to scramble out of there. This red gel slows fire, making it hard to ignire vegetation once it's coated. Now Phos-Check is used. We always called it mud or slurry, as in, "Get clear, mud drop!"
After a Day on the Fireline
My crew boss shot this after we'd hiked six miles from the fireline back to base camp. No roads on Alaskan Interior fires, you're either dropped off by helicopter or you hike in to the fireline and back out again, hauling all your gear and tools, like chainsaws and Pulaskis. I was so tired and hungry, my crew boss was trying to make me smile...Yeah, right, buddy.
Our Illustrious Wildland Fire Crew at the Alaska Fire Service
I had the good fortune to work with a fantastic group of people from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in Alaska. Our crew consisted of people from Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Glennallen, Alaska. I had to work hard to keep up with them!
Lighting a Backburn
When weather and wind cooperate, a good strategy to slow an out of control fire is to create a wide fireline, or fuel break, by removing all trees and brush, a good distance in front of the main fire. Our goal was to starve the fire of fuel, which is trees and other vegetation. When we lit the vegetation on fire, it burned back toward the main fire, slowing it so we could contain it.
A feel-good love story, adventurous setting, and invigorating action combine to create a fresh romancenovel that features a strong-willed yet troubled heroine, Tara, who the readercan't help but root for. -PublishersWeekly Booklife Prize

This stand-alone is easy to follow and difficult to put down. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama. Was the ex-fiancé murdered?
Compelling storyline of firefighters, including the different types of wildfire crews. Realistic procedures, actions and reactions. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking and memorable dialogue.
‘Too late. She’d already gone down Guilt Street and hung a right on Failure Avenue.’
I will re-read this story and look forward to other works by this author.
