This type of story can make you stop and think. And that is just one of the reasons that I recommend this collection as,well as the Alt.History 101. By the, way, if you have not seen the other collections edited by Samuel Peralta then you are missing out on some enjoyable reading.
It reminds me of my younger days when the Sci-fi magazines, my favorite was,Astounding, were the place to go to be able to read works by up and coming authors. Today we also have the, advantage of getting to know this same type of authors on a more personal basis.
The thing I enjoyed the most about Alt History 101 was that it strived to give you stories of history from a "what if" perspective, and most of them didn't require you to suspend your beliefs in order to enjoy the story.
This anthology, however, is packed full of SciFi "what if's" and if you don't/can't suspend belief, this isn't the book for you.
I would have given more stars, but I felt the stories in the second half of the book were slower paced, and harder to get through. I think the editor should have moved the stories about differently to fix the overall flow of the whole book.
