A Cut Above Average Television
Verified purchase
I've been a fan of "The Amazing Race" for several years, but missed the first 3 or 4 seasons. So I was thrilled to find the early seasons available through Prime Video. This premier season has not been a disappointment. You can see the show is finding its footing here. They've fine-tuned the race (maybe a bit much) in later seasons, but it's still the same fun catching glimpses of other cultures - especially in countries we may never have a chance to visit. This is definitely a cut above average television.

The most entertaining and educational "reality" type show on TV in my opinion.
Verified purchase
This series is the only "reality" type show that I have ever enjoyed. It is a lot of fun to choose your favorite team or teams and kind of bond with them and cheer them on through the race. Getting to see all of the locations that the contestants are required to travel to and the different "Road Blocks" and "Detours" that the teams must complete in various countries and cultures makes for an entertaining and educational experience. Unlike Survivor, there is little or no politics and back stabbing, a fact I really enjoy. I recommend this show regularly to friends that enjoy travel as much as I do. The fact that I can watch entire seasons in a couple of days makes it perfect for my schedule as well.

fun to watch this competition in its purest and rawest form

very cool to watch how the show started. i like it better back then in many ways, since it was more about thinking/planning/surviving the journey than it is now. back then saving your money mattered, and a smart move like talking to the locals about a shortcut, could save you hours of time. these days it's mainly about the activities they have to perform, and they usually all catch up to each other every leg due to flight times or something similar.

A lot of fun to watch the beginning of an iconicshow

We started watching the race after the first few seasons so it's fun to go back and watch the beginning. Even after watching a lot of seasons now and knowing how things work, the first season was so fast paced it was sometimes hard to keep up with which team was where. We love that these old seasons are on Amazon. It is pretty cool to compare them to the current seasons and especially cool to see how it all started.

Watch Americans Behaving Badly Around The World

I would have given this season five stars but for the technical difficulties in production. Some were so obvious that they warranted explanation others just made things awkward. As for the people involved it was six teams behaving badly, three teams providing no real entertainment. Fortunately they were eliminated early. The last three episodes earned this season four stars and a strong recommendation to continue watching.

A Memorable Finish for this Amazing Race!

It always seems like there is a team that believes that all the other teams are following them and that they have more skills than everyone else and that team was Frank and Margarita. It seemed that the finish in their hometown would have sealed it for them but the boasting and early celebration may have caused them to overthink it and, well, we all know how it worked out. I later read that the couple divorced and Frank remarried, which is sad but all the best to them. I didn't like watching Team Guido play because they played dirty so, I have to admit, it was satisfying to see them lose. I hope we've seen the last of them. (besides the one All Stars they play in) I loved Drew and Kevin and would have been happy to see them win it but once they were out I was voting for Dan and Brennan. Solid entertainment. I do wish there were less airport scenes and more telling us how far apart teams are from one another or how long a tast actually takes a team to complete. Oh, and Lenny, poor Lenny. He couldn't figure out a task so he lied that he had an took his team on a wild goose chase. I think it was all the complaining that did him in, he just couldn't think anymore:( Happily, I read they split, which is the best thing for both of them. We liked Lenny and thought he deserved a more understand girlfriend but we also decided that the girlfriend had just had enough so it's good they've moved on.

Back when this show aired on regular TV, the station that broadcast the signal was so poor that we actually refused to watch the poor quality transmission. I am soooo thankful that it is available on Amazon Prime streaming video. I have really enjoyed the show and viewing the exciting places and scenes of this worldwide travel adventure.
