Several reviews stated that it didn't hold the capacity specified. They definitely hold 400 DVDs. I think other people must also be putting the CD booklets or something inside. It hold 400 disks, NOT 400 booklets as well.
I bought two of these to hold my over 700+ dvd collection because I was tired of it taking up so much space in my loft.
They are well made and don't come with an awkward smell like some cases do. The binding seems to be well-made the sleeves do, too. Disks slide in easily, and are easy to remove, but snug enough that they won't just fall out if the binder is turned upside down.
The sleeves are pre-cut and pre-removed. Some similar cases you must remove the cutout section for each slot.
I have never had any problems with any AmazonBasics product, and this is no exception.
Just keep in mind that the pages in this binder are NOT removable, so you can't reorder things by page unless you remove all the disks and put them back in.
I already bought 5 of these wallets because this allows me to categorize by genre and because the price is so reasonable. Plus, these wallets don't take up much room on our bookshelf. Five wallets take up a fraction of the space that all the DVDs in plastic jackets did.
If I could make one improvement on this wallet it would be to have a small clear plastic slot on the spine so I could write what was in that particular wallet. Maybe that's just my uber-organizing powers kicking in again, but I think that would be helpful to others.
I included a photo so you can see how I put the discs and cover photos with info in the pockets. (Please don't judge my DVDs. I just picked a random page in the wallet to photograph. LOL)
Details: The build quality is mostly fine. The issue is with how the pages are bound together. They aren't individual pages free to compress and expand on a plastic ring/slide like some other disc binders. The designers didn't get the amount of extra fabric to compensate for the thickness of the discs correct. With enough patience you can use every last page, but you won't want to. Doing so also makes it pretty much impossible to browse through the pages. Another reviewer posted that you can't close the binder if it's 100% full. It's not impossible, but... you won't want to ever take it that far.
When I got it, the case looked sturdy enough on the outside but when I opened it up I was surprised that my cheap dollar store cases were superior to the Amazon Basics design. The first problem is that when you put a disc into the sleeve, the disc is overlapping onto the plastic above the disc. That is a huge no-no. Would it have been so hard to have just a little bit of room up top to where the cd doesn't overlap the plastic?
The second problem I found was that the cd's themselves fit quite snug into the sleeves. Almost too snug. Again would it have been so hard to leave a little room at the sides of the disc? So I found with them being so snug it can be quite a hassle pulling them out with ease. Which makes me think that overtime the cds will get scratched from the friction and force of pulling it out. I'm also kind of weary about the quality and durability of the plastic sleeves themselves as the sleeves feel pretty flimsy.
Other than that I like this case.
Overall this case could have been so much better. Leave a little room at the top where the disc doesn't overlap the plastic and not make it such a snug fit so you can't get your discs out easy. Also don't make the sleeves so flimsy. I'll have to admit this case isn't the worst I've seen but Amazon definitely needs to rethink the overall design of this case. I mean how can my 8 year old no brand name dollar store cd cases get it right and this much more expensive newer cd case get it wrong? Maybe the old saying they just don't make em like they used to is true.
I added a few pictures and hopefully Amazon will see how to do it right for future designs.

It looks amazing, and now I can put awful space wasting plastic jewel cases into the recycling. This leaves me with the cd and the artwork in these stylish binders. All the stuff that matters!
That being said, for the price this is the best you will get by a landslide, I only fit about half my collection in here and I do plan to buy another one in the very near future to fit the rest, but I thought this should be known if you plan on filling it to the brim.
As its Amazon basics theres little branding, just a few small Amazon logos on the Zips, the wallet is built solid and does its job well.
If your looking at the larger sized 248+ disk wallets id suggest 2 of these instead, larger wallets seem to fall apart once full because they simply can't take the weight of all the disks, this however has no such issue. Have completely filled up two of them and they manage fine, they can comfortably support the weight of the disks and as each 'page' of disks is actually attached to the wallet they don't fall out, unlike other brands ring binder designs in which the pages tend to slip out of the ring binder when loaded with disks.
The material of the 'pages' is a soft fabric, seemingly protecting the disks without any scratches, and the disks are held in with a small plastic piece that makes it really easy to slot disks in and out without any faffing about with lifting up flaps like some designs have.
Overall a solid product. As the name says, its basic, nothing fancy. it does the job and does it well at a very good price! Will definitely get a third if needed!
After wanting to de-clutter the mass of physical disk media boxes (what's that!?) from our living space, I decided to put all of the disks into folders and put the rest into the loft. I used a lot of another brands folders, that were ok, but quite flimsy and generally failed to stand on their sides unsupported. When I needed to buy a further one, I tried this amazon case instead. It holds a few more disks than the others (which I think were either 320 or 360 disks per folder) and is much sturdier. It stands on its own when fairly full, so that's a huge improvement on my previous cases.
400 CDs, DVDs, games or Blu Rays (Or HD-DVDs, Video-CDs and SACDs if you're that way inclined) take up a lot of shelf space. This reduces them down to a much, much smaller amount of space and keeps them on hand. In my opinion, it's also so much better to browse your collection of 'whatevers' when you can flick through them like a book, rather than pick through endless shelves of disk boxes.
I alphabetised all my collection for ease of discovery, something I think is essential when a collection of disks reaches a certain size. I know of people that will hug me for that fact, and some that would want to poke me in the eye for being so irritating. I would personally recommend using the opportunity that moving disks to this folder gives you, to organise any collection you have logically. How receptive you are to that is of course up to you :)
If I had any complaints, I would say that the zip to open and close the pouch may break easily, especially when the pouch contains many discs. Secondly, when you place a disc into a holder, they are pressed against a rough surface and I fear that this may scratch them over time. Overall, this isn't a big issue, as long as you treat them carefully.
In short, I would highly recommend this product. If you are looking to store your discs or to free up shelf space, this is perfection.
Thanks for reading my review. I hope it helps.
I'm very ocd when it comes to my Dvd and Blu-Ray collection but it has got to a size which was just not manageable so I decided I wanted to put at least some of them in binders. I was worried about getting rid of cases but I really love this system and will definitely be putting more of my collection into these binders.
Approximately 6hrs it took me to transfer my discs into the cases. Although really not a portable option due to being so heavy it has cleared so much shelf space moving these 788 discs into two cases. I’ve taken out like the leaflets out of the cases where they have them. Stored some info stuff in the black case the rest that won’t fit I’ve putt in a small box.
Very impressed and would definitely buy more of these in the future. As my collection is always ever growing.
It is good quality, i don't feel that it will fall apart anytime soon. The material is thick, as are the plastic wallets which hold the disks.
It is quite big, large enough that it can't fit under my (admittedly VERY low) bed, but i have managed to slide it down the side of the telly stand which keeps it mostly out of sight. It looks nice enough, and is relatively easy to carry around. The only thing i found was that once you have filled over half of the pockets, it starts to become difficult to place disks in the inner pockets due to the angle that the pages are on being so much thicker on one side than the other. Not impossible, but it does become fiddly.
All in all, it is a very reasonable price for the quality and i would buy it again.
I would advise any anyone looking for a product like this to buy this exact one.
