I read tons of camera backpack reviews and watched a few dozen videos before setting on this one, and I couldn't be happier. Here's what I see as the key features that make this product stand out from other alternatives:
- NONDESCRIPT APPEARANCE: Most camera backpacks scream, "I'm a camera backpack," making you an easy target in crowded venues. I have thousands of dollars of gear and place a premium on the security offered by this anonymity.
- VERY COMFORTABLE: With adjustable wide padded shoulder straps on chest and waist, it took me seconds to find just the right comfort setting, and I can wear the backpack comfortably for hours.
- SPACIOUS: Easily fits my camera body, 4 lenses, flash and accessories, several filters and hoods, external mic, tripod, batteries and battery chargers, memory cards, laptop and tablet - with room to spare.
- SMART, SOLID BUILD: Padding is thick. Dividers are plentiful and easily shifted with Velcro attachments. The camera body (with just about any lens attached) easily fits in the center compartment, for quick removal and storage. The zippers move well.
- RAIN COVER: The pack comes with a specially fitted rain cover that easily slides over the backpack and helps keep everything dry. Based on my research, only the "higher-end" camera bags come with one of these.
- EXCELLENT PRICE: This backpack is a tremendous value. I couldn't find anything else that was close to this price for this feature set, size, and quality.
AmazonBasics is a misnomer for this product - it's anything but basic. I look forward to getting many years of use out of this well-designed, well-made backpack.
SPACE: If you are like me, you want to know first and foremost what can it fit. Well, I packed this thing to the rim with all of my electronics including a Mavic Drone, 15" Mac Laptop, iPad Pro 12.9" in a case with a Apple Pencil, Nikon 360 Cam, Go Pro Hero 5, 2 iPhones, Drone Controller, 2 Drone Batteries, 2 Drone Chargers, 2 extra Go Pro Batteries & Charger, 2 extra 360 Cam Batteries and Charger, 4 Selfie Sticks, 1 Andoer Pistol Grip Cam Mount, several Go Pro accessories including chest mount, helmet mounts, dash mount, charging cables for ALL of the items listed above including my laptop adaptor, a 3" x 7" x 12" foam/zipper case to protect some of the small gear, some extra memory cards and finally a very solid, 6lb (24") Velbon W-Lift Tripod strapped to the outside.
TOTAL WEIGHT: I weighed this once before I left and I believe I was just under 30lbs.
PROTECTION: With a drone packed in here, I was definitely concerned about the pack holding up. Well, I can tell you the padded walls did their job. They are extremely sturdy and because they are velcro I was able to customize them to fit perfectly around the drone and other gear. Note: The pack was definitely squished with a lot of other gear. But I took care not to place it under 50lb+ suitcases. Again, I'm not a product tester and I wasn't looking to TEST the capability.
DURABILITY: Not one single rip, tear or even the sound of a tear occurred. And again, I was skeptical so I was definitely expecting something to give out. I did not baby this thing...as I was in rain (sometimes heavy), muddy jungle trails, sandy beaches, direct sun, you name it. It did get some mud on it...but wiped away once it dried and you'd never even know it had touched mud. I was worried about the high temps (85-95F + high humidy) especially in the direct sun, but...every time I opened this bag...my gear felt cool. So, an unexpected surprise. Note: I did NOT use the rain cover for this thing and water never leaked in.....however I would definitely utilize it if you know rain is coming. The rain surprised me a few times....and I stressed out when the heavy rains hit us....but I was pleasantly surprised that everything inside stayed dry when I got back to my car. Note: I did not have this in heavy rain for more than about 10-15 minutes at a time. Another side note: I carried this many different ways, I used the handle up top, I used one strap over my shoulder, and other times I used the full two straps and the buckle around my torso. So, all of the main components were definitely put to the test. Again, I'm still rather impressed that nothing ripped.
USAGE: I used this first and foremost as a carry-on. 6 total flights. I transported it to every single location, every single day and yes, I did small hikes with it as well. All told I was on this adventure for the entire month of Feb...and went to over 20+ different locations including remote, sandy Islands in GBR, picturesque trails and beaches in AU/NZ, river bungee jumping, mountain luging, light tropical jungle hikes (no major ascents), full day beach trips, farm stays, big city hikes....this thing never left my side.
COMFORT: I carried around all day and the only time it got uncomfortable was when I had it draped over one shoulder for long periods. The full weight of the pack on one shoulder I think was a bit too much. So, I simply put on both straps and it instantly fixed the comfort issue. Keep in mind, while I was constantly moving every single day, this was not used as a rough "hiking pack" for long, arduous, high-ascending hikes. It was used for everyday transportation....as we moved from location to location. I carried water in the outside pockets a few times....and of course it did meet with rocks, mud, sand, etc......but I did NOT abuse it or throw it around for obvious reasons.
FINAL THOUGHTS: OK, for those wondering why I would pack so much expensive gear in such a cheap case...well, I was originally trying to purchase a more expensive Manfrotto pack from a guy on craigslist...but when too much time went by between communications, I purchased this as my backup in case the deal fell through. Once I received it and packed it up....I ended up deciding to just roll with it. I was already blowing so much money on other pieces of the trip.....so, it felt nice to finally save a little money for a change. And for the money...I just don't see how you can beat it. It definitely exceeded my expectations. This was easily the best valued purchase I made. Hopefully you have a similar experience.

I have spent what feels like an eternity researching camera backpacks. I was surprised by the vast choice, the huge price range and the variable quality. It took some time to narrow down my choice, which involved looking at several other websites (in addition to Amazon), and also visiting three retail outlets. On the store visits I was generally disappointed at the size of the backpacks available, as they looked to be far smaller than I'd imagined following my online research. Those that were suitable for my needs in terms of size were beyond my budget.
I thought I'd found the perfect backpack from another manufacturer, but on checking the dimensions it was just a touch too big to be accepted as hand luggage by the budget airlines and I couldn't take the chance.
I looked at the AmazonBasics backpack several times, but tended to ignore it as I couldn't believe it would be a good product at such a low price. However, with Amazon's returns policy, it was, as they say, a 'no brainer'. I am so pleased I bought it! This backpack is cavernous and well made. Even the packaging it came in was beyond my expectations.
Now on to what you're really interested in:
The main compartment comfortably holds my gear. Not professional equipment, but there's still a lot of value there when added up...
Two camera bodies (Canon EOS 600D and Canon EOS 50D)
Five lenses (including a zoom lens attached to the 600D)
Two chargers for the cameras
Two spare batteries
Two remote shutter releases
All of this in just the main compartment and I could easily have added more batteries and another charger if I wanted to without it bursting at the seams.
The velcro inserts are brilliant making it easy to put all of my gear in the case exactly as I wanted it and very secure. Two velcro straps give that extra bit of protection from stopping anything rolling around.
The front compartment easily housed my Neewer reflector (which was a pleasant surprise) and there are several pockets and flaps for further accessories (leads, batteries, filters, etc) leaving plenty of space for a tablet too.
My 15" laptop in its neoprene case slotted into the well-padded laptop compartment easily. I would guess a 17" laptop (without a case) would fit too at a push.
On the outside, the adjustable shoulder straps are strong and well-padded as is the panel at the back, making it comfortable to carry. There is also a padded strap to fit across your waiste to distribute the weight of the backpack more evenly.
A tripod or monopod can be strapped to the side. In addition, there are two pockets with velco flaps (one of which contains the rain cover) and a stong handle on the top.
There is of course a downside to the bag. If you fill it, like I do, it is heavy. With all of the gear described, as shown in the photos, it weighs 9.1kg. Having said that, one of the budget airlines I use has a maximum hand luggage allowance of up to 10kg, so it's well within range.
If you've got a lot of gear, this backpack really is superb. Buy with confidence!
I'm a Fashion Photographer and I was so confused about buying this product.
There were many reviews but none of them were helpful. So I'm gonna write everything about the product in this review.
What is it-
*It's Amazons own DSLR backpack bag.
*Amazon basics gives you pretty good quality products for a reasonable price.
*I'm already a fan of amazon basics products now.
*It comes with good quality material and zippers.
*It's not waterproof completely.
*They provide a waterproof cover which serves the purpose.
*The product feels sturdy and durable.
*It's pretty big in size.
*This bag is of very good size and has many compartments too and if you're someone who has many lenses or gear then this would be a very good option.
*It can hold a 15 inch laptop in its back pocket.
*There are small pockets to hold different small items.
*There is a tripod holder on the side.
*You get sponge partitions so that you can change the layout inside the bag accordingly to accommodate your gear.
*I got it during a sale for 2499 and some cash back so making it a total of 2399 which is a pretty good deal.
*I would suggest you wait for some sales so that you get a good offer on the product.
*If you're a professional photographer looking for an entry-level backpack for all your gear then go for it.
*Or if you already have another premium backpack and this is for backup still it's a good choice.
*If you've any queries regarding the product, feel free to contact me. Happy to help.
*Hope this was Helpful.
Happy Shopping :)
The product itself is fantastic, but I had my reservations when I first opened it. I expected the bag to be a little bigger and was slightly concerned when I took out the dividers.
However having put all of my things into the backpack, I'm very impressed with how much it can hold. I wanted this bag for my dji spark drone (flymore kit) and Yi 4k camera and gimbal kit and they fit into the main compartment nicely and leave the other pockets and sleeves empty for other small bits and bobs.
The bag is surprisingly light and the weight distribution is very good on the back, even without the waist straps.
Quality feels very high (as you'd expect from amazon) and the internal dividers feel very strong and so far haven't moved around at all. This keeps my products inside nice and secure and I have no concerns about them getting damaged!
One small thing I did notice, and this could be a typo, is the slight difference in described size between the orange interior and the grey interior. I ordered the grey interior and when I was worried about the size, I went back to the listing. It appears that the orange is described as being 0.7cm bigger all around than the grey. This is a surprise as they're the same listing, just different colours. As I said it could be a typo and realistically 0.7cm isn't going to make much difference.
All on all I'm extremely happy with this bag and providing the size is suitable, I'd recommend it to anyone!
I have all my filters, cloths & other bits and bobs such as my mobile phone in the front compartment.
In the middle compartment you can shift the Velcro straps around allowing you to keep your equipment nice and snug; I was able to fit two compact cameras, a bridge camera & two lenses and I still had tons of room to play with.
And finally in the back compartment there is plenty of space for my laptop which is pretty handy; you will also find a waterproof cover to help prevent all your vital gear from getting wet if it decides to rain.
Really good bag for a very reasonable price.
Er wurde seit dem intensiv genutzt.
Gefüllt ist er bei mir mit:
- Nikon D5300
- Kit Objektiv (18-55mm)
- Tamron Tele (70 - 300mm)
- China Scherbe 50mm 1:1.4
- noch ne China Scherbe 8mm 1: 3.5
- Diverse Filter und Gegenlichtblenden
- Box mit SD-Karten
- LED Leuchte
- Gopro-Klon mit Zubehör
- kleines Stativ (an Halter außen)
Also ich bin sehr zufrieden.
But less padding means more space inside – I managed to fit quite a bit of kit inside.
A bit too many straps, but I guess they can be cut off.
For this price, a very good camera backpack.
Oh, and I love the orange inserts
First off the pros, and there are loads:
- it contains all of my gear comfortably (Canon 6D mark 2, Tamron SP 15-30 f/2.8, Tamron 24-70 f/2.8 G2, Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 VC, cheap microphone, Canon 330EX flashgun, accessories (eg spare batteries and SD cards etc))
- the bright orange interior looks great
- it's comfortable to wear on my back
- the bag is pretty light without my stuff in it
- it contains a rain cover
- the side pockets can hold a tripod and a water bottle
- my Huawei 13.9 inch Matebook X Pro easily fits in the rear laptop pocket
- it seems very durable, has survived a lot of use for the last 5 months without any scratches or sign of wear
- there aren't enough pockets for small things like memory cards
- this is a biggy: when I take my camera out and put the bag back on my back the velcro that keeps my 70-200 lens in place comes loose and the 70-200 and some of the others move about. This is a pain and a bad design flaw I reckon. See the final photo I have attached to this review to see what happens.
So that last con means I can only rate this 4 and not 5 stars. However, I think it is impossible to find a perfect camera bag - I've been through a few! - so I am going to stick with this one for now as there are lots of pros to this bag.
The laptop compartment is a nice edition, not common in bags of this price range.
Padding is thick and solid, and the camera compartment is easily customised to fit whatever camera set-up you may have.
Front pocket is spacious and has enough individual pockets to be useful without being over the top.
Straps are very comfortable and the waist strap works really well, the adjust-ability it truly stellar.
All in all, solid bag at a bargain price.
Would have been nice to see a waterproof coating on the outer material, but what can you ask for at a little over £30
(It does however include a waterproof cover)
(Which happens to make you look like you're carrying a bin liner full of kittens on your back)
