With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century. In this story of "kindred spirits", McAdams' touching and heartfelt narration proves she is just that - bonded on a deep level to this shimmering classic.
When aging brother and sister Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help with chores around their farm, Green Gables on Prince Edward Island, neither is prepared for the feisty and imaginative redheaded girl who is mistakenly brought to them instead. Nor are they prepared for the way in which she will change their lives. Through a series of hilarious misadventures, Anne's uncompromising spirit makes her a striking presence in the close-knit village, bringing new friendships, first crushes, and, for her foster parents, a love and openness unimaginable before her arrival.

The book was written in Englilsh, so Pedulla has translated nothing. What he has done has taken material free in the public domain and offered it on Amazon.
Amazon should NOT support theft.
As much as I love Anne of Green Gables, a classic children's book doesn't really make much sense to me for the format. A small child might have issues with ripping the pages, and it's not really ideal for reading out loud to a kid.
I put this, and Anne of Avenlea on the wish list, and my husband bought them as a Sweetest day gift. They arrived today and I got them early. I am very excited! They will be a great addition to my growing number of classic books in hardcover for our library.
Flo Gibson, the woman who leant her voice to this audiobook, is a lady more of us should know about! She recorded over 1,100 books in her lifetime for the love of reading, can you believe that? And she didn't record just anything - she chose books that she herself liked to read. (And mostly books that were in the public domain, as they came with no royalties to record!)
Her love for reading and desire to share it led to her starting the company that this audiobook is sold by - Audio Book Contractors. She recorded for them up until she passed in 2011.
I learned all this by having a conversation with the current owner of the company. This isn't a paid endorsement or anything, not at all. Rather, I bought this audiobook and then reached out to Audio Book Contractors about the other Anne books - in that email exchange the owner, he told me about his work with Ms. Gibson.
That being said, I do recommend buying from Audio Book Contractors! They are a super tiny company and have a great deal many audiobooks for sale. Aaaaand if you order direct from their website (just google "Audio Book Contractors") you get free shipping over $25 and they send it out to ship faster than Amazon. So yeah. Do the thing - support the small guys!

“It changed into reputed to be an difficult, headlong brook in its in advance course thru those woods”
I would advise the potential buyer to use the “Look Inside” feature on Amazon to check if this is still a problem in the version they are thinking of purchasing.

Through the series we see Anne grow up and have children of her own and experience and cope with life's ups and downs. The author loves her characters and Prince Edward Island. The latter is almost a character in the books. Her descriptions of the island and its woods, flowers and fields are lyrical and poetic. There might be a bit too much of this for some modern readers but it is a price well worth paying for some beautiful stories and eloquent writing.
I loved it.

4 Stars.

Recomendo para quem quer começar a ler um livro em inglês e ainda está inseguro a respeito. É fácil de ler, letras grandes e vocabulário comum, do dia a dia.
A capa é magnífica. Muito bem feita, colorida e encantadora como é o livro.
Paguei muito barato e chegou rápido, sem nenhum problema.
Recomendo 100%
