Having read all of Mark Greaney's Gray Man series and his Tom Clancy/ Jack Ryan books, I was very excited to see the first offering of what I hope will be a new series for him; Armored! This story introduces us to a new hero named Josh Duffy. I will not give any plot details away, but I will admit to reading the end when I still had another hundred or so pages to go. The storyline could be ripped from today's newspapers and the suspense really never eases. I particularly love Greaney's writing style and consider it to be similar to Brad Thor's and Vince Flynn's /Kyle Mills. As much as I love Kurt Gentry, I think I may like Josh Duffey just as well. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment or Greaney's next offering.!

Mark Greaney is one of my favorite authors and never leaves me disappointed. There is always plenty of action. there is a well thought out plot though you never know just where he's going with the twists and turns but you want to follow him on the ride. His characters are well developed and interesting. This is different from his Gray Man series, which I love but this new adventure with Josh Duffy who had lost part of his leg as a bodyguard and was now stuck with working as a Mall Cop. Then he met an old friend, also an ex-bodyguard who had just landed a job protecting some UN peace keepers in Mexico. He nearly died of envy and practically begged his friend to see if he could get a spot for him as well, not disclosing his disability. And so begins the adventure into one of the most dangerous parts of Mexico infested with violent and warring cartels. It's an exciting and scary ride.

I'm a big Greaney fan, but there was something very special about the way the author wove a bunch of misfits into a cohesive and effective team. Very few qualify as Grayman like super people, yet heroism and bravery exist in many forms. Thanks for that welcome change. Some of the action was a bit over the top in terms of realism, but it's expected, and I absolutely enjoy it.
