So you will get confused thinking it’s not cooking your food because there is no timer. It is cooking. The timer comes on at the last 10 or so minutes depending on what’s cooking. I have made white rice and steamed veggies. I have cooked risotto and it came out perfect. I have also made yellow rice from the box. Just follow the cooking directions of the box (not instructions) for perfection.
We eat rice everyday in my house. The stay warm option works for the next day. But at 24 hours it will get hard.
I didn’t have a issue with over boiling or anything.

Very versatile, but there’s a messy design flaw

I have had an Aroma rice cooker for years. I bought this model because of all of the functions. One HUGE complaint is the mess that is always on top of the cooker. When I cook rice or oatmeal, something that requires a good bit of water just to line two- Rice water and oatmeal water bubbles up through the steam vent. Thankfully because I don’t cook a large quantity, the water never leaked off of the rice cooker top. It merely stayed in the small indentation on the top. I find it super annoying and it happens EVERY time. My old rice cooker never did this and even when the condensation cup is on, it still does it. I do love the versatility and have no use for a crock pot or instant pot because of the rice cooker (except if you use the pressure cooker a lot). The slow cook and all the other functions, especially sauté, let me cook in one pot. It’s just really annoying cleaning the top every time. And if I had a larger family and cooked larger quantities, it would probably be a deal breaker.
