5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully Illustrated Version of The Art of War
By K. Chan on March 3, 2020
The Art of War Graphic Novel is a beautifully illustration version of Sun Tzu handbook for military strategy. The book is interestingly wrapped - it looks like a hard bound book, but when you look at it more closely, you’ll notice that the book is actually a paperback book that has a hardbound front and back cover. The spine of the book is also double wrapped with a thin red cotton rope. It’s a small detail, but it’s very attractive and unique looking, and definitely adds to the overall outer appearance of the book.

The illustrations and written adaptation of the book is very well done. It was interesting for my son to read and the adaptation made it much easier for him to understand and digest the teachings. While there are some images of soldiers being dispatched in the book, it wasn’t overly graphic - it was actually much more subdued that most superhero comics available today. That said, there are instances where you will see blood spatter/blood on weapons, so be aware if your kids are reading this book. The entire book consists of 127 pages and is a relatively quick and enjoyable read, if you’re interested in military strategy. Overall, if you enjoyed The Art of War, or are looking to get an easier to digest version of the book, this is a great graphic novel to read.
