However, it's great to use as a backup for laptop power, charging tablets or phones, even a battery operated/charged camping lantern.
So, don't count on an emergency jump for your car, but everything else, it really works well.
The seller sent me an email after seeing this review, offering to send a replacement. I took them up on it and will update this review once tht item has been received, charged, and tested. Updated the review from 3 stars to 4 because of the great customer service.
As promised, the seller has sent me a second unit free of charge. It was already completely charged up and, just for giggles, we hooked it up to the grandkids' go-cart which hasn't been run all summer and needed a jump to start. It fired right up connected to this little beauty.
Updated rating from 4 stars to 5. Really great product, really great customer service.
Update: I am very pleased to say that the seller is so serious about their word that they sent me for free a more advanced and Powerful version of their product. They didn't ask for the old one back and also gave me the new one for free. I am elated since I've never seen a company do that before. I have edited my review out of respect for their actions.
EXCELLENT jumper for my scooter and is a backup jumper. Can be used in tandem for a really dead battery. It stays red until battery is charged enough. Includes Hard case and will do well in the under seat.
So I wish this had six stars! Best value. Better than first purchase for the same price!

I have to say I was surprised how efficiently it performed, the key will be to see if it performs as well in the future (ie will the unit retain it's power over time?).
Quite amazing power for a pack the same size as a modern telephone, brilliant.
I should also say I PAID IN FULL for this, there are many reviews on here where items are given free for review, this can make it hard for buyers to discern how well products will acutally perform, TAKE NOTE AMAZON!
I was excited to test this Arteck portable jump starter and charging unit. I am pleased to say that I have been very impressed with it and my expectations have been exceeded. I like to be prepared for all types of situations so having this little gadget in the boot of the car is perfect.
The jump starter arrived in a very high quality zipped case with a nice selection of ports and accessories. The case is big enough to keep all the accessories within it and the area where the jump starter is kept is very well padded to prevent any damage to it. This is a compact jump starter measuring 13.5 x 2 x 7.5cm and weighing only 240g. It holds an 8000mAh battery and is built to be rugged. There is an on and off switch, USB port, Micro USB port and the car jump leads port located under the rubber flap at the front. The charger looks great and it is made to a high standard giving a nice quality feel in the hand.
The jump starter provides a whopping 300A peak current which is impressive for its size and should be able to jump up to 2.5L engine. There is an LED flashlight function which is bright. The LED light can be used as a torch but also provides a strobe function. The LED’s is a great safety feature should you ever breakdown at night. The USB charging ports are ideal to charge your smartphone, tablet, PC, camera or any other device which can be charged via a USB connection. The USB cable included offer various connections including a Micro USB port, iPhone ports and Mini USB allowing you to charge smartphones, cameras etc.
You can charge the jump starter using the Micro USB port on the side and it takes approximately 2 hours to charge from 0 to full. The LED display shows how much battery is left and will illuminate when charging so you know when it's 100% charged.
This device can be used as a power bank should you ever run out of juice but have no access to a main plug. This makes it ideal to have in the boot of the car for trips away, camping etc.
I have tested this jump starter on a friends VW T4 Camper 1.9L Diesel engine. He has recently started a project on the T4 which is parked in his garage and only worked on over the weekends. The van has not been driven on the road for a while and the battery was so flat that it wouldn’t even turn over. The van was stuck in the garage which made it difficult to try and push out of the garage to push down the road. I came to the rescue with this jump starter and I am pleased to say that it started his 1.9L TDI engine first time without any issues. The engine turned over once before starting. The set-up was as simple as switching it on, plugging the crocodile clips to the battery and starting the van. My friend was so impressed that he has now ordered himself one of these jump starters.
In a nutshell, this jump starter is made to a high standard and it works! It looks great, has a nice rugged and quality feel in the hand but best of all, is user friendly and the variety of ports and accessories provided means it will come in handy in a variety of situations.

I wouldn't say it was suitable for a mechanic or frequent user, as it's limited to 300A and the capacity is low compared to other devices available - but it's extremely good value for the price and I have used it 4 times without charging between so it's certainly capable of dealing with emergency use for a day.
Unfortunately, I can't yet write an objective review of whether the product will actually start a car with a dead battery. Also, there's the issue of how long the unit will last before the power in it is depleted. But, having said that, I've already benefited from the secondary ability of the unit to be able to use it for charging my phone. I plugged my iPhone into the unit, and it charged up perfectly normally in pretty quick time, and was still showing a full charge on the charger, even after charging my phone.
The crocodile clips for starting the car appear to be quite heavy duty and they will be 'living' in the boot of my car. The unit itself I'll keep handy and use it for other stuff, like charging my phone, e-cig, dashcam and the 'too many to list' other USB chargeable stuff. The four port lead which comes with the unit is also great, as you can charge more than one thing at a time.
So to summarise. It's a brilliant product, and is far more useful than 'just' for jump-starting your car...Oh and the torch light is a neat little addition too, I would imagine highly useful when you're fiddling about under the bonnet of a car on a dark winters night. Although hopefully, I'll never have to do that..Hopefully!
(PS: I wonder how these reviewers get the free product to try, and then write a broken English review on the product?...Can I be a product reviewer?)
ADDITIONAL INFO: I changed my car recently, and the old one got left a bit dormant for 6 weeks or so. When I came to give it a bit of a run and turn over the engine...Yep, you guessed! The battery was as flat as a pancake. So out came the pocket sized jump starter. I was still a bit sceptical, as the car wouldn't even respond to the key fob remote, so the battery was utterly dead. Anyway, I hooked up the jump starter to the battery, turned the key, and hey presto, it started, first turn of the key! I have to say, it wasn't like putting a new battery on, but hey, who cares as long as it starts? So, all in all, it did get me out of a hole and did what it says on the tin (box). I 'was' able to jump start my car with it.
The LED light is fairly bright and has a narrow beam which I can see being useful for using the battery in the dark to jump start a car but isn't going to project a lot of light if you were to be using it to walk a longer distance in the dark, but this does mean the drain from the LED will be low.
Wonderful item, so very impressed.
Anyway, I left the car on airport car park for 10 days, came back at 1AM and surprise, surprise car battery was flat. Normally you would have to call your breakdown service, wait for god knows how long, or flag people down in hope they have jump cables with them. But not this time. I just got my device out, connected everything ....... and got my car running in a matter of seconds.
When you realise how much time and hassle this little device can save you, then spending mere £30 makes a lot of sense.
I bought this after seeing a breakdown driver use a similar device to get my motorbike started when the battery had run flat (he offered to sell it to me for £35!). A work colleague had also bought a similar device to get his bike started after a flat battery situation and recommended them. My bike battery had been flat for approx 2 weeks, I hooked this up and it started first time. Foolishly, I switched the bike off 10 minutes later, and so had to use it again. It worked straight away and I was underway instantly! It came with full charge, didn't seem to have lost any after 2 jump starts, and the torch was useful as well. The box is a bit bulky, but very sturdy and I chose this version as it came with all the different phone, iPod, USB connectors included. The only reason I have given it 4 stars is that the actual jump lead connectors are quite large for a motorbike, and probably better suited for a car. Other than that I would thoroughly recommend it!
