I bought the used library binding version, so I knew it would be used. The first 3-4 pages are worn from maybe water? However the pages weren't illegal, torn or beyond worn out. There were small stamps (from previous owner, the library) but again I figured the book would have some previous use. I was able to take off the library sticker with no problem. I still recommend the book though, because I love Arthur and it brought back some good memories.

I love this story! The only thing is that it said was in “very good condition” and there are some cracks on it and more wear and tear than expected. It was my fault too though because the description did say there was a stamp on the inside, I just didn’t realize how big the stamp was..it takes up most of the back cover. But the story part was readable! Love Arthur and Halloween!

I recently purchased this book for my nephew, because I remember reading the Weekly Reader version when I was a kid. I was happy to see that the interior illustrations are the same as the original, only the cover art has been changed.

The artwork is really nice and is the best part of this book, in my opinion. It also has some good messages about not being afraid of things you don't understand and not making assumptions about people. It might not have the best stranger danger advice, however, as the protagonist enters a stranger's home while trick or treating, but to be fair, the protagonist is also a talking anteater, so...

Overall, it's a really cute Halloween story with cool artwork.

Just spooky enough for a good Halloween read, but it had a wonderful twist in the end supporting a solid moral. Very appealing for young readers and it might help take a little bite out of the fears or else give a little boost of courage where needed. A recommended read!

I have to say it's a little bit strange if you're used to reading other Arthur books, or watching the tv program. It is clear this is an early version. The copyright is 1982 and the characters don't quite look the same. However it's a cute story and has a good message. My 4 year old requests it often.

My three year old LOVES this read along book! The voice is very expressive and uses different tones for all the characters. The "turn page" signal is very easy to hear. Song at the beginning of the CD is a bit long though, we fast forward most of it.

My only complaint is that the spine became completely unglued after a couple readings, but a bit of tape fixed that.
