I will read a Lucky Harbor book by Jill Shalvis any day. This is my favorite contemporary romance series to boot! They are the most delightful, funny, and sexy reads that leave me feeling all mushy inside. After devouring the first four books of the series, I've been highly curious about Amy Michaels and Ranger Hot Buns, Matt Bowers since reading Lucky in Love.

Amy is a strong and sassy heroine with a big heart. She's made mistakes growing up and survived being a teenage runaway. Following her grandmother's journal to Lucky Harbor, she is looking for hope, heart, and peace her grandmother once found a long time ago.

Matt Bowers is a to-die-for hero...carefree, laid back, and easy on the eyes. He is a former Navy and Chicago Swat officer. When an incident on the job causes him to lose everything, he moves his life to Lucky Harbor to find peace.

Matt and Amy have been circling each other for months until one day Amy gets lost in the woods and Matt rescues her. When they are forced to stay over night in the woods because a tree has fallen and blocked the road, they find themselves no longer able to resist the sexual attraction they have for each other.

I love the chemistry build up between these two. It's hot enough to ignite the pages.

"He looked her over, making her every nerve ending tingle with awareness, though his gaze was more inquisitive than sexual, as if making sure she was okay, though she had no idea why she wouldn't be.

Then he smiled, and oh, how her misbehaving nipples loved that predatory smile. If his intense, concerned once-over had done things to her, his smile just about undid her from the inside out.

This is such a sweet story about finding yourself. These two people are wounded. They both fight becoming too emotionally involved with one another. They have so many trust issues and hurts that they struggle to let go of their past mistakes. And watching both characters become unraveled by there strong feelings is a roller coaster ride of emotions.

This series would not be complete without the charismatic side characters. You have Lucille who is a seventy something, nosey lady who knows anything and everything about the residents in Lucky Harbor and then posts it all on Facebook. Amy, Mallory (Lucky in Love), and Grace (Forever and a Day)have formed a friendship and meet once a week where they bond over chocolate.Then you have the bromance between Matt, Ty, and Josh. They work out together, climb together, and look out for one another. Not to mention all the other characters from books one through three that sometimes make an appearance. I feel so at home with the Lucky Harbor residents.

I am crazy in love with the Lucky Harbor series. These books always make me smile and laugh. You don't want to At Last. It's another great edition to this adorable and sexy series.

At Last is another wonderful book by Jill Shalvis and I absolutely loved. It is the second book in the Chocoholics Series set in Lucky Harbor and is a story about two people who are neither looking for nor are interested in finding love. Forest Ranger Matt Bowers, aka Ranger Hot Buns, has been there, done that when it comes to the whole love and marriage thing and he is determined not to go there again. Tough girl Amy Michaels has had a rough childhood and has issues when it comes to men and trust. As determined as the two are to fight it, there is no denying the powerful physical attraction between them. When they come together (no pun intended), it is magical. But the road to their happily ever after is not a smooth one. Amy has to learn to trust Matt and to realize that she doesn't have to do everything alone. Matt on the other hand, needs to leave his failed marriage in the past where it belongs so he can build a future with Amy.

I loved both of these characters. Amy had to deal with a great deal as a teenager and was trying to build a new life for herself. She was tough and spunky and a little bit grumpy, but had a big heart as evidenced when she took Riley, a runaway, under her wing. Matt was swoon worthy and I fell in love with him, as I do with all of Ms. Shalvis' heroes. He was tough and strong and take-charge, but also sweet and compassionate and understanding. Of course I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that he was a complete and total hottie!

Ms. Shalvis is incredibly talented at writing characters that are real and relatable. Any one of her characters could easily be your best friend, your sister or your neighbor. She makes you wish you were there in Lucky Harbor with crazy Lucille, in her neon sweat suits, and all the other residents, sitting down for a meal at the Eat Me Cafe.

As in the prior book, at the beginning of each chapter there is a chocolate-ism that chocoholics everywhere will adore. Two of my personal favorites: "A balanced diet is a chocolate in each hand" and "A day without chocolate is like a day without sunshine".

Everyone should run out and buy this book! It is chock-full of humor, sexy men, hot love scenes, witty dialogue and of course chocolate! I'm eagerly awaiting the next and final book in the series.

I have been looking forward to Amy & Matt's story forever since they were characters right from the very beginning! It starts off strong but fizzles at the end unfortunately. Amy is a waitress trying to find herself in Lucky Harbor, traveling through the park trying to find landmarks described in her grandmother's journal. She is convinced by following in her grandma's footsteps she will find peace & love. Amy was a self-destructive teenager, running away at the age of 16, giving away her body as a way to hold power over men. She has a strong protective shield over her emotions & Matt handles her with care, knowing that to get past this shield of Amy's he'll have to be gentle. There is no doubt Amy has a strong physical connection to Matt, "Ranger Hot Buns" as he's called, & it only escalates when he rescues her in the park one night, convincing her they need to spend the night together in a tent. Fantastic makeout session in the tent leads to other encounters that just grow hotter & hotter. Amy & Matt are on the same page - it is just going to be sex, no relationship, no emotions. Matt was a member of Chicago SWAT & moved to Lucky Harbor after he divorced. Now he basically runs the entire park service which means he is called away at all hours of the night. Riley is an 18 year old runaway & Amy sees so much of herself in Riley. It is just a little side story as part of the book. Amy finally admits to Matt that it is more than sex, she really has deep feelings for him, physically & emotionally, and I think she even respects his job which he never got from his ex-wife. It is really unique that she is the first to break since she has been protecting her emotions all these years, such a tough girl. Amy has been drawing during her adventure in the park & finds that this is really what she is meant to do with her life. Really sweet!

Amy Michaels came to Lucky Harbor to find peace and maybe hope. It worked for her grandmother many years ago, so why shouldn't it work for her as well? What Amy hasn't been looking for was Matt aka "Ranger Hot Buns". He's trouble and that's the last thing she needs. But then she has never been especially good at making the right choices...

If you read and loved the other books in the Lucky Harbor series then you will love "At Last" as well. Jill Shalvis came up with another sexy, funny and at times heart-warming story, that will brighten your day just a little bit more.
For the most part this book was very drama-free (not boring, though), if a bit predictable. That's not a bad thing, I'm just saying that it pretty much follows the path of the other books in the series.
Still not a bad thing because if there's one thing Jill Shalvis is especially good at then it's creating crazy chemistry between her main characters. The attraction between Amy and Matt was off the charts and I had a lot of fun watching those two resist falling in love with each other. And resist they did, let me tell you that. They both had a rough past that made them more than a little bit suspicious of trust and love, so the story of the book basically revolves around them overcoming those fears and learning to trust each other.
I think Jill Shalvis did a good job. She constructed a solid story, believable background stories and I never felt like she was stringing them along just to lenghten her book. The developments all felt very natural, even though I wish the author would take a bit more time to let her characters jump into bed with each other. I like it when an author uses a slow (even very slow) buildup, but everyone who read one of Shalvis's books before knows they won't get one of those.

There was a little sub-plot about a troubled teenager that I thought was very well done as well. The portrait of the defiant, lost girl felt realistic and I was rooting for her from the beginning.

A predictable, but nevertheless good and fast read that made me exited for the next book in the series "Forever A Day", Josh and Grace's story.

Ich könnte jetzt sagen: kennst du eins, dann kennst du alle, aber das hört sich einfach viel zu negativ an! Die Geschichten der Lucky Harbor Bücher ähneln sich zwar tatsächlich alle irgendwie ein bisschen, aber ich möchte nicht eines davon verpasst haben zu lesen!
Die Charaktere sind allesamt liebenswert und verführerisch zugleich und lassen einem keine Möglichkeit das Buch aus der Hand zu legen! Es sei denn man ist fertig und möchte sofort mit dem nächsten beginnen!
Jill Shalvis schafft es ohne Probleme einem schöne Schmökerstunden zu verschaffen und ein seufzendes Lächeln auf die Lippen zu zaubern! Ich hatte mir von der Figur Amy etwas mehr versprochen, als ich die anderen Bände gelesen hatte. Aber leider sind nicht nur ihre Treffen mit dem Mann der Stunde repetitiv, auch die Erwähnung aller seiner Qualitäten wie auch der von zukünftigen zu verkuppelnden Männern in diese Ort. Es hat genervt, dass diese Typen alle wie aus einer Schablone zu stammen scheinen. Beim Lesen wurden dann durch fehlende Hintergrundgeschichten nur noch Gähnattacken ausgelöst. Ich mach nach diesem Band bei der Serie erst einmal eine längere Pause. Das Geld war es auf keinen Fall wert.
