Four irresistible tales of romance and adventure in the Scottish Highlands from the New York Times best-selling author of Highland Devil.
New York Times best-selling author Hannah Howell is a master of Scottish historical romance. In Highland Hero, she shares four of her finest short stories featuring heroes as wild and captivating as the Highlands themselves.
In this volume, you'll meet a dashing laird with an appetite for more than a Scottish beauty's culinary skills; a proud lord on a journey of rescue and desire; a sensual warrior at the center of one woman's dreams; and a handsome but somber Scot whose joy is reawakened by true love. These passionate romances will thrill you, seduce you, and warm your heart....

Two of the four I have read before: “The Magic Garden”, copyright 2002, that has first released within the anthology “Magically Delicious Kisses”, and “Thata”, copyright 1999, that has first released within the anthology “Castle Magic”.
The other two were unknown to me: “Edina and the baby”, copyright 1996, and “Isbel”, copyright 1997.
The four stories are an okay read. I suppose because they are short, and not the same kind of stories that Hannah Howell has write recently, I got a little disappointed.
The Magic Garden
“Scottish beauty Rose Keith knows people think her a witch. Some say that the delicious meals she prepares from her special garden can inspire rapturous passion. That must be why Sir Adair Dundas has asked for an offering of her legendary sweet tarts. But when the laird grows more interested in Rose's womanly curves than her culinary skill, she can only wonder whether it's witchcraft at work... of something deeper and far more enchanting...”
Tatha
“1385. Fleeing her vicious intended, Tatha Preston takes refuge in the walls of Castle Cnocanduin. There she is drawn to an old well that offers nothing but painful memories to its somber laird, handsome Sir David Ruthven, who must learn from the flame-haired beauty the true meaning of its blessing. “
Edina and the baby
Highlands Summer 1420. Edina MacAdam must conquer her fear of the shadowed forest to find her dog, that has disappeared in the thick growth of trees. Along with the dog she finds a six months old baby, and short after, she must confront three men. The leader, Lucais MacRae, claims to be the baby's uncle, that has come to take the child home. Both do not trust the other and Edina decides to go with the men to protect the baby until she believes he is safe and loved.
Isbel
After a very short marriage, and the dead of her cruel husband, Isbel lives alone in a tower house. The house and the nearby area attracts magical folk and the souls of those hoe have not past yet in to the next world.
After have had a seer's dream, she found a very wounded warrior in the forest en bring him to the tower house, to heal his wounds.
