Are Merfolk more like Ariel or are they the thing of nightmares? One scientists obsessions takes him and his friends on a harrowing underwater journey to search for the mythical mermaid/mermen. This book was fast paced and had a lot of good plot points. The only issue I had with it was the ending seemed to be rushed and could have added some more intensity when it came to dealing with the creatures. Otherwise it was a good read.

This is the seventh Jeremy Bates book I've read, and he always knows how to grip me and keep me interested. When I'd rather read than play games on my phone, I know he's doing a great job! I've started another book of his and have several more waiting.

Thought this would be an exciting book ,but until the last couple of chapters was like sitting in on a lecture at school . This is not entertainment .As said the last 2 chapters livened up a bit ,but was fairly predictable .
An indiginous tribe was introduced but played no big part .
The hero was quite prepared to murder a Merfolk but seemed quite indignant when they tried to do the same to him ,although they were just living their normal lives under the sea .
No more Mermaids or Mermen ,even in a singular they are Merfolk .Politically correct I suppose .
The author very often waffles along until half way through his books [Suicide Forest case in point ],dont know why .When he introduces tension from the beginning as in The Catacombes he can produce a good read .
