This was a good book. There were lots of twists and turns to it. It’s about 3 couples that meet at a very expensive resort. One of the waitresses has died and the police investigate. They are not sure if it was murder or if she fell to her death. Sue Watson keeps you guessing and eventually someone else dies. All these twists and turns fall into place. I recommend this novel.

It's a familiar plot with new characters. Three couples meet at an exclusive, expensive resort, each of them there for different reasons. Then people start dying. Shades of Agatha Christy! The book held my interest and curiosity. But suddenly none of the characters were who you thought they were. I gave it four stars because I thought the ending could have been less abrupt.

I’m a big fan of Sue Watson; I’ve bought and read all of her books.
I was very excited to get this one, but after reading was a bit disappointed. It sounded so intriguing, and did grab my attention fast — but then went on and on and on, going in circles, same things playing out. I nearly DNF, but wanted to find out who did it.
The very beginning, and the ending, get my stars … there’s a great twist at the end. The middle parts got tiresome.
My favorite part was the very atmospheric setting. I really enjoyed the descriptions of it and felt like I was there. This would make a good movie!

I love Sue's books and this one was brilliant! It sucked me in immediately and I literally couldn't put it down.

The setting is a luxury Art Deco hotel on an island in Devon where 3 very different couples meet to enjoy a relaxing, pampering holiday. But soon a body is found on the hotel's private beach. Suddenly the secluded island seems more frightening than relaxing and, when they find themselves unable to leave, their luxury break becomes a terrifying nightmare.

I was hooked on this book immediately! The wonderful picturesque, but isolated setting, which I straight away recognised as Burgh Island in Devon having once been lucky enough to stay there. The multi layered, relatable characters who seemed to come alive within the pages. And of course the unrelenting tension as, I, like the protagonists, didn't know who to trust. The isolation and terror of the characters was so realistically portrayed, I just had to keep reading to find out what happened!

I've read all the author's psychological thrillers and every one continues to enthrall me. Highly recommended and am eagerly awaiting Sue Watson's next book.

I hate to leave bad reviews but personally I didn’t enjoy this book at all! I didn’t warm or like any of the characters and I felt like the story setting were repeated far too much for eg.., the runs on the night , the going down for dinner and the couples going back to their rooms . I got so bored and really just wanted the book to end . I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who reads this so I won’t reveal anything else about the story line I just didn’t enjoy the book .

This book is, indeed, completely addictive: It was so bad I found myself compelled to read it. Perhaps the most entertaining component is that none of the characters appear to have a brain and as your eyes sweep majestically across the page you realise that not only are they intellectual deficient, they appear to have no appropriate emotions either other than displays of sulking tantrums more associated with two year olds. This book is shockingly badly written. We read at pointless length and intricacy about the couples' backgrounds and interpersonal relationships but neither have any bearing on the plot whatsoever. They may just as well have been a group of 6 teenagers on a jolly. Infact, if they had been 6 teenagers on a jolly it would made some of the extremely childish behaviour less questionable. This is the thinnest 'thriller' it has ever been my misfortune to read and I am encouraged by those reviewers who are in my camp. Ms Watson is either laughing her head off all the way to the bank, dining out on the garbage she has written or she is labouring under the massive misapprehension that she is an author.

Lots of potential however the combination of poor writing, implausible characters and bad narrative meant this book never really got off the starting blocks. A good editor should have highlighted the many holes, overly layered plots and unbelievable conversations. I'm reluctant to buy any other Sue Watson book if this is the standard - very dissapointing.

Sue Watson is one of my favourite domestic-thriller authors. She really knows how to tell an unputdownable tale. Packed with glamour, suspense and sheer creepiness, The Resort is fantastic holiday read set in luxurious surroundings. The story centres around the twisted relationships of three couples who each come to stay at Fitzgerald’s, a gorgeous Art Deco hotel on a small Island in Devon. After a body turns up, the tension builds even further. Add in some vile husbands (David -ugh!), unreliable narrators, great female friendships and a truly unguessable twist, and the result is another absolute page turner. Loved it!
