I was so blown-away by this book that quickly read it, front to back, and was gratified to get the marketing perspectives of 30 leaders in the field.
I'm focusing on Richard McCartney because I have read his other books, and I've worked with him to the great benefit of my clients. I wasn't expecting to learn anything new from him - but I am gratified to realize I was wrong. This new book takes Richard's expertise an important step further, by posing to him (and to 29 other experts in book marketing and promotion) a series of energizing questions that - frankly - all of us who write and self-promote our own books really want to know. While I strongly recommend Richard's other books, if you only read one - read this one. It's amazing.
As an upshot of having read his other books, I realized that Richard McCartney is the real deal - and that his techniques, while valid, were more work than I was willing to put into the results, especially when I could get Richard to do that for me. Earlier this week, he did this for one of my clients, who is now an ecstatic Gold-Seal Amazon Best-Selling Author (thanks to Richard).
However, I was also gratified to learn that the other 29 experts also had great ideas to share. At more than 270 pages, this book is chock-a-block with great book marketing and promotion ideas from experts who make these techniques work for them and their clients every day of the week.
If you're looking to absorb a lot of different strategies, picking and choosing the ones likely to work best for you, then I strongly recommend you buy and read this book.
This is a book of brief interview tidbits that give tips on how people who are speakers or who sell things other than books can use a book synergistically for the goals of those other things. Obviously, they have appeared in this book so that you will take the next step and buy from them.
This book is NOT useful for someone who is a just an author and doesn't do those other things. The crappy thing about this book is that I can't even return it. I bought it in August and the window to return it was at the end of August. Well, the book didn't come out until December. Oh well, at least it was only 0.99 when I bought it.
I have a lot of favourite parts in the book, but I really like how Ray Brehm emphasizes building authority as early as possible. It took me way too long to realize the value of that in my own business and I think it i a great way to fast-track things.
I'm a big fan of Matt Stone and Eevi Jones' work and I love both their chapters and viewpoints. Eevi lays out a 30 day plan day-by-day, which is pretty darn awesome!
Qat Wanders' chapter also stood out to me.
I could write a longer review, but I it to say I think this book hold loads of value for anyone interested in creating their own business, full- or part-time, growing their business or becoming and author.
