5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read--Many Tales Compiled Into One Book
By C.M. Mills on September 11, 2020
This novel is comprised of several short stories. It is perfect for those who want quick reads, or even those who prefer to finish a book in one sitting. I particularly loved the autumn theme, as an avid lover of the season myself. Several authors spoke out to me which ultimately led me to purchase the book. While geared toward the young adult audience, adults can enjoy it as well. The universal theme throughout this piece is a black cat. If you are into suspense and mystery, then as you read this, look for this black cat as the theme. Without going into too much detail, I can assure you that the stories are not only thought-provoking, but their scenery is vivid and descriptive. They are fun---each other has their own unique way of telling their tale. I love that you can immerse yourself in the scenes as if you are a part of the stories from the outside looking inward. “Bloodlines”, which is the first story, is great for animal lovers. I loved the plot twist toward the last few chapters. I found this story particularly interesting because of all the unique elements. “Fade to Black” I loved because the main character had an attitude I found quite comical through reading the internal monologue and by her behavior. I also love how the author completed the story. “Dawson Farms” was another favorite of mine. Scarecrows have always “creeped” me out. (Thank you, Children of the Corn). I liked how the characters were developed and that the scenery was perceptible because it was well built. The use of magic tied the whole short story together. I also adored the male and female character’s chemistry and how the author pulled me in to the story by evoking emotions through the character’s actions. There is a second Autumn Nights novel that was just released that I will be reading as well.
