Away From Me is a standalone with no connections to any of Blake's series books and is the story of Callum, a widower who is in a D/s relationship with Gaby. The relationship is good with the exception that Callum has vowed never to love again because the death of his wife was too painful. Gaby stays with him for 3 years then decides that she deserves more ~ so she gives him an ultimatum. Give me more or I'm gone. Unfortunately, she has to leave.

For a short novella, Away from Me is chock full of emotions. Gaby has more than one reason for leaving. She is a woman who needs the man that she loves to return her feelings for more than just the emotion. Strong beyond what she should have to be, Gaby is the type of character who makes you feel deeply. Callum is understandable in his hurt and cluelessness. While denying his feelings he reveals them.

This is a story about letting go, being fearless and demanding more for yourself. Since it's Lexi Blake the sex scenes are scorching and the characters humorous and believable. A quick read that packs a gut punch.

This is a story of the relationship between two people—make that three. Cal, still carries the guilt that follows the loss of a spouse. Could he have done something differently? Could he have saved her? Her specter is always with him and with Gabrielle shading everything between them, including Cal’s admonition that he doesn’t love Gabrielle despite them having lived together for three years as she’s become enmeshed into the fabric of his personal and professional life.

That was a pivotal moment in their lives causing them to part just when she needed him the most—just when he lost the opportunity to take care of her in her direst moments. The anguish they both felt is the nexus of this story. Their journey back from the precipice is what will tear at your heartstrings.

Callum Reed, has devised a way to never give his heart away and face the pain of losing the one he loved... it was going well for him, until Gabriella changed the rules on him. Hurt and reeling from what he saw as a ploy or manipulation on her part, to get him to marry her, they parted ways. He thought to escape the pain he’d felt once before... it didn’t work. And it all cane to a head when a chance meeting brought them together once again and he discovered why she left. Will they be able to forgive one another and mend what was broken? Or is it to late for them?
It was truly a heartwarming and passionate read!

This was a short quick read that I really liked and wanted more of I wanted to know what happens off the island. Callum Reed and Gabrielle "Gaby" Sullivan are master and slave and have been in a D/s relationship for three years. Callum was shattered by his wives death he vowed to never love another or get married again so when Gaby asked if he loved her he said nothing so she left him but she left without telling him that she was sick. The first few chapters of this book I didn't like Callum I thought that he was cold and cruel until he found out Gaby was sick and no one told him his friends thought that he knew and put her out. This was a good read Gaby was so strong she went through something and came out on the other side stronger. When Cal showed up at the resort that she is managing he is determined to get her back but he knows that he has to change so he opens up to her his late wife depended on him for everything Gaby wasn't like that and he did notice and tried to do everything different a little too different he also blames himself for her death. This book had some really hot sex scenes the scene in the bath was hot. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I hope that Ms. Blake would write about the resort.

I enjoyed Gabrielle and Callum's story. There was drama in that Callum had to figure out what had happened to his relationship with Gaby and fix it. There were no bad guys in this book so no suspense other than the relationship. I will definitely read the next book in the series.
