Got Blue and Bk5027 Multicolor Purple both in medium. For reference, I'm 5'3", 115 lbs. My true waist (above belly button) is about 26", but the measurement around where the waistband hits (below belly button) is 29" measured over the band. Measurement around hips/booty is 36". the measurement of the shorts from top of waist band to crotch seam is 9.5" and from top of waistband to hem of shorts is 10". It's not a true booty short in the sense that my booty is covered. A small might have been cheekier, but I like it just like this. I like to have some room to breathe. Got them for burning man. I've had metallic shorts before: you can't expect them to last too long. Some reviewers have said they had no problem machine washing them and even putting them in the dryer. I find that really hard to imagine (especially the dryer part since the metal on the fabric gets melty at high temps). My advice would be hand wash, hang dry to prolong life, but still be realistic. Pro tip: for storage fold them inside out because the metal fabric tends to stick to itself and when you pull it apart it can take some of the metal off.
