By Marianne Ryan, PT, OCS
This is a well written and researched book on how to improve your body after the rigors of pregnancy. Baby Bod: Turn Flab to Fab in 12 Weeks Flat! By Marianne Ryan, PT, OCS
The book is meant for the ladies wishing to regain their bodies after pregnancy. Marianne explains in clear, easy to understand reasons why your body ends up the way it does from all the hormonal changes and stretching from growing that baby inside you for 9 months. We do not just “spring back” after a birth and it is all explained clearly, in plain language and diagrams making it easy to understand.
The author has included many references she used in preparing this informative book as well as her own experiences in her work in Physical Therapy and as a mother to help those in need of regaining their pre-pregnancy shapes and even improving on them! She goes through exercises that you can do during pregnancy to help with support during the time your body is changing, and then afterward to help you get the body you once had to return.
She goes through it all step by step, including some of the “after affects” we end up with, like a leaky bladder, stomach muscle separation from the expanding stomach, aches, and pains from your back and pelvis and much more. This book is needed by all women of all ages as everyone can benefit from the exercises she has so carefully researched and organized in a plan that most can follow.
Even women who have had children years ago can benefit from the tricks she shows in the book for minor aches and pains, incontinence issues and even the stomach muscle separation you may still have even many years since your last child was born! This informative book is a must-have for your reading list!
You will learn how to increase your core strength and help your stomach get back to its normal pre-pregnancy form, and the best part is you can do most of the actions while you are pregnant, there are modifications built into the program for you.
I highly recommend this book for all women, there is something in here for everyone to use to help you even if you haven’t had a baby, or you are looking for some help long after baby has made his or her arrival! If you only get one book for self-improvement THIS is the book you want in your well-read library!
So, I went and did some research.
I came across the Baby Bod book, and being a female, I know that my friend was most concerned about losing weight. I downloaded this book and hoped that I would be able to find some answers and solutions for her. In this book, I found a whole PLETHORA of information. My roommate and I would read this book together, her for learning about her body, and I to help her heal. We both learned so much that the doctors never told her. Apparently, it isn't normal to pee yourself while exercising after you give birth! There were a whole bunch of exercises, self-care techniques, and post-birth information jam packed into this book.
While my roommate gave birth the 'natural' way, this book also talked about how to take care of yourself after a c-section, which I thought it was very interesting.
If you're expecting, whether you're a first-time mom or a fifth time mom, I would recommend to you to read this book!
A lot of women wonder how (or if!) they will get their pre-pregnancy body back. Being pregnant is an exciting time, but there are some physical challenges that some don't think about or expect. Your tummy may be extra "fluffy" or you could have a leaky bladder. Or even have uncomfortable lower back pain.
What I appreciated this book most of all, because not only is the author a knowledgeable expert in her professional field, but she speaks from personal experience. As a new Mom who had given birth, she went through back pain & a leaky bladder, so it is clear that she fully understands that getting your pre-pregnancy bod back is not "just" about those six-pack abs or wearing cute clothes! She actually created this Baby Bod Program to first help herself heal from childbirth and then now shares it with others. How great that she does!
With this workout, you also can start it at just about any time you feel is important to you - whether that is during pregnancy, the day after you've had your baby or even months after your child was born. I really like also how flexible it is, so it is super easy to fit right into your schedule. It's a 12-week program, so you can feel encouraged that you'll see results soon too!
