Sharon Hamilton has written a beautiful and thoroughly intriguing book that deals with real life issues. Beautiful, angst filled, drama and suspense and dealing with the ramifications of when love doesn't always work out the way we planned.
Incredibly strong, caring characters, with such depths of inner fortitude, that never give up attitude, even when life throws curve balls and gets tough. It’s always good to catch up with familiar team members and know they are there for each other no matter what - they are family and will do whatever it takes to protect those they love. I loved the addition of two seals that worked hard put didn't quite make it yet given an opportunity to showcase their humour and skill sets...
Tensions are high, suspense leaves you waiting. No matter what - you have to trust your former training, trust your innate instincts, focus, attention to detail, and put any differences aside - to save those your love even when you know you are not what’s best for them.
Those aspects of the book were great… a few minor details that could have been further explored, as they added to that escalating tension and suspense (her assistant and brother). I think sometimes Authors need more room to really make their stories come alive. Novella’s I don’t think give that opportunity, especially in a story like this where it needed more room to develop a plot and all that was going on… I would have liked to have seen more story with the two young Seals that infiltrated to show that side of the terrorists plot… while there was always chemistry with Halley… a new man was there and that ending could have been so much more… but that’s a reader wanting more and more… which I figure can’t always happen. I still loved reading this story, the cultural differences and similarities that we all are as human beings… we want love, we want equality, we want freedom to be who we are.
Sharon Hamilton is one of my favourite authors in Military/Romantic Suspense genre. If you love page-turning, breath taking words, along with dramatic tension and romance - Sharon, delivers this and so much more for her readers.
Morgan and Halley’s return to intimacy was unexpected and didn’t feel like a natural course based on their behavior up to that point. Also, the storyline was a bit choppy at times with several unexplored threads. It was like some vital scenes were cut which would have provided more depth. Having said this, I still really enjoyed the story. It is a quick, easy entertaining read.
It seemed like Halley had the ability to be Morgan's soft place to land, to calm him down. Which was surprising, considering she was his ex-wife, and they both seemed so bitter. Also, considering how, after years of being apart, their first meeting was so combustible.
I was confused about the story of Halley being in danger. Maybe I missed something. I'm not sure if it was just because she was high profile and having these seminars on empowering women, or because of who she was dating, or if her assistant and her driver involved? They were a few things that didn't tie together smoothly for me. I wondered what the point was of certain aspects being added to the tale. There seemed to be a number of facts in the story that there wasn't enough detail about it didn't make much sense being there.
An ok second chance romance with a storyline that starts out to be intriguing and eventually comes to a positive conclusion with a HEA.
I have read all of the SEAL Team 3 series by Sharon Hamilton and loved them all. This addition was enjoyable and a good addition to both series. However, it did have some minor editing issues which I'll give the story a solid 4 star rating.
Morgan Hansen hates being medically retired from the Teams and has created the Bone Frog Brotherhood that meets at the Rusty Scupper Bar as needed when a newly divorced team member joins the rank. But when his former team member JJ comes to his house with information on his ex-wife, Halley Hansen, being in danger he jumps at a chance to help out. But first he has to convince Commander Greg Lambert who's running the Sleeper SEALs that he's up to the task without causing problems for both his ex and the Sleeper team.
Halley Hansen isn't just Morgan's ex-wife but also a very successful Women's Empowerment speaker. But someone is sending her threats when she encourages attendees to stand up to what they want. When Morgan shows up at her home with information that she'll be in danger if she doesn't cancel her next summit, does she believe him or is it just a way to get back in her good graces? It will take intervention by JJ to convince her that the threats are real and she needs bodyguards to protect her. But can they keep their hands off of each other even though she's been seeing Gilbril for almost a year.
Kyle Landsdowne Team 3s leader shows up briefly but mostly you have new former SEALs, Delta Force, and two new linguists Stanley and Taylor who were unable to pass recent physical tests. But there were too many unanswered questions did Gilbril just accept the Morgan and Haley were a couple? What about the Isis Cell where they able to shut them down? Because of the loose ends I gave the story 4 stars and look forward to the next book in the series.

Who tampered with Halley’s laptop, who attacked Stanley, who tampered with the Teleprompter, who was the makeup artist and what did she have to do with the plot, was there only two people involved in the whole terrorist attack.
Not a satisfactory book as it left too much unanswered
