I generally like movies of this theme but can't believe it rated 4 stars. The scene where our hero stuck the bad guy's hand in a garbage disposal and you get to see the chewed up hand, well, that is where I stopped watching - I guess we all have a different threshold for violence, I really don't think mine is that low, I really think that scene added no value to the entertainment for anyone and the point could have been made in a more tasteful manner. Harrison Page was entertaining, the only positive thing I can say. I won't watch another movie produced by the same producer.

The movie follows the synopsis but it overplays the gentle giant turned vigilante. It even goes to far as to "helping an old lady cross the street" we he doesn't do that but he does help an old lady with her groceries. Throughout the movie he is confronted by strong young men, all of which he dispatches with relative ease and then we come to the main villian - and old fat man. He eventually wins of course but he has more trouble with this person that any of the stronger and younger men.

The final fight includes chasing each other down in busses. The villian's bus is even t-boned by a train and he walks away unscathed. It was just ridiculous.

Throughout the movie it if filled with one-liners that were unoriginal and flop in terms of humor. They also attempt jokes related to differences in age (i.e. what's a flash drive? or a reference to a party-line).

And of course, following the book on film production they had to throw in a love interest which played not part in the story other than to be there.

I have always watched Danny Trejo's movies for the excitement and action and he is one of my faves, but this movie made me see a softer side he is able to play and, consequently, a softer side of Danny himself. He definitely doesn't disappoint as a "bad ass", but we get the treat of seeing another side of the man and the actor. This movie gave me a new respect for his work. I highly recommend it!

1 stars: Couldn't watch more than 15 minutes. Unwatchable, or language not as described.
1.5 stars: Just started it, and fast forwarded to the end to get if off my, "movies we think you'll like", list permanently. I hope this cost Amazon money every time I do this!!!!!!!!!!
2 stars: Jumped my way to the end for the ending. Unwatchable, but interested in how this turd ended.
2.5 stars: I fell asleep, or closed my eyes for most of it.
3 stars: Watched it all, but not happy about it. Nothing better to do.
4 stars: I watched it, liked it well enough. Would never watch it again.
5 stars: Great moving picture show! I'll watch it again, and maybe again in a few years.

A veteran becomes a hero defending an older man on a public bus. He doesn't ask for the attention but gets used to it. When his friend gets killed and the police don't seem to care he looks into it himself gaining the hero name Bad Ass. It is a short movie that moves fast after it gets going. Danny Trejo is great in it and even "cleans up nice" for a date. He stumbles on to a crooked mayer during his quest to find his friends killer. Wish it was longer but still cool with VERY brutal scenes. Worth seeing or buying.

It's got MANY problems that are hard to overlook, but the good outweighs the bad. This is formulaic and tired, but the character development is better than most that Danny does. For the people giving this five stars (or even four), I have to ask: With only five stars to work with, WHERE do you put movies like Man From Nowhere or Message Man or others of that caliber? Bad Ass is nowhere CLOSE to movies like those and many others. Bad Ass is a solid 2 1/2 stars, no more. But, again, worth the watch if you're a fan of the lead character.

The CGI wasn't the best, the language wasn't the best. But Danny Tregjo and the cast for the most part did an amazing job. The story is well written, the language could have been toned a bit, but I personally don't care about that. Overall, a feel good action flick for a man who put in hard time and getting just dues later in life. Will be watching it again with my son someday. 1st born is due in 2 months. Can't wait to impart my life experiences upon him as he grows and showing him movies such as this, that can motivate good actions and morals among the worst possibilities in life.

I would give it 5 stars but I guess it might be not that good. But I really did like it quite a bit - The main actor is very good (Danny Trejo). The script was perfect. The action scenes were amazing. A very light hearted film. My wife wouldn't like it though because she doesn't like hardly any movies past 1960 (probably more likely past 1950). So I watched this while she was at Church.
