If there was ever a series that must be made into a movie, this is it....Jeff Menapace is a genius at writing stories that are impossible to put down once you start the first page....the Bad Games series has been his best....his writing is taut, very fast paced & has constant twists...there is no way anyone can predict where the plot takes you....the characters are so real & identifiable, you feel like you actually know them. I've been an avid reader all my life but very seldom give a book more than 3 stars, and I love King & Koontz, and this author is right up there on their level....I've lost a lot of sleep because of this series & it was well worth it....can't wait for the next chapter!

Too bad no one ever suspected her in childhood...that could've been interesting. I know I'm always looking forward to more Bad Games! Thank you Jeff, your dark and horrid images always keep the pages turning! Sorry to see one of my favorite characters killed...I wish he could've been severely incapacitated for a while, death is just so final for such an important character! I don't want to spoil anything so I won't say more than that folks. And folks, just so you know...God is in EVERYTHING:) The good & the bad, you just have to find the joy! Trust me, it's in there!

Although I enjoyed the book and the series very much, this series has become like a dab of butter that has been stretched across two pieces of bread. That’s not saying I still did not enjoy the book, it just seems to me that the series is being drug out perhaps a little too long.
The story was ok but lacked suspense and depth of the original characters. I’m sure I will continue the series because i already have so much time invested but there needs to be a change and from what I’ve heard about the story shifting towards the children, it may be worth it but at the same time, who’s going to be the “big bad” and seriously, how long can you go on wreaking havoc on one singular family? I guess we shall see.

As a finale for this particular series it ends well and with some irony, and a universal truth/ perspective explored. This was enough for a four stars rating for me. The rationales of the characters were more believable than previously; however the characters themselves were somewhat cartoonish.

This story is not a cliffhanger, it ends with a nice bow, but there will be another installment! Initially I had every intention of being a troll about this, but I'm here to, instead tell you that Bad Games: Malevolent can easily serve as closure for the series, if you were getting as tired of the series as I was.

If you're new to the series, you need to start with book one. However, be warned, this series oozes "B" Horror movie. This can be both fun, entertaining, and annoying.

Malevolent blew me away (pun intended) seriously how do you do this? Pull another phenomenal chapter to this twisted series and made it SO good! Could not put it down! And the teaser at the end?! OMG! I can't wait :-) keep writing Jeff, I will keep reading.

I've been reading books since I was a little kid, over 40 years (almost 50) and Jeff Menapace is suddenly The Man! It is extremely rare that a story can influence my dreams (or nightmares) and this one did just that. It is exactly what it says it is, a dark psychological thriller that will keep you awake at night, not just because of the dark story but because you will not want to stop reading.
The characters are beautifully written, you will feel like you know them intimately, any reader will either want to protect them with their own lives or hold them down by the throat and punch them to death! The quality of the writing itself is just amazing, descriptives are perfect and the pace is exactly what you want from a thriller.
On top of all that, the scariest thing about this book and the previous trilogy is that it could all be real, there are psychopaths out there just like this, so beware dear reader!

Amazon works in mysterious ways. It already knew I liked Dean Koontz, Stephen King, James Herbert and Val McDermid so one day kindly suggested that I might like Jeff Menapace. I was at the onset of a week off work at Costa Del Home so I thought, yeah, I’ll give this Bad Games Trilogy a go. Blimey, glad I made that decision - devoured the LOT in a week! Jeff cheekily takes you to the edge of a precipice though a chapter then switches to another set of equally absorbing characters in the next – it’s a superb page turning ploy and I love it. He has a very engaging writing style but I do wonder about the darkness of his imagination! That said, I’m delighted that all three books in the trilogy have been optioned for feature films – that will be a “must see” in my opinion.

Then along comes Bad Games:Malevolent, number four in the series. I read the original three a good while ago so I did a fast re-read of Hellbent to “get my head back in there” and I’m glad I did. Hellbent left the door open for Kelly Blaine to rise to the top of the pile, and boy does she ever in Malevolent! I won’t say too much (spoilers) but I’ll just say that she exceeded my expectations – and if I ever needed someone to go ‘into battle’ with I’d choose Amy hands down. I actually got hiccups from gasping at some of the plot twists and as the tale approached it’s climax absolutely nothing else got done that day.

If you like a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing I can’t recommend the Bad Games series highly enough. More please Jeff!
