Barefoot Tides Series ~ Two-Book Series: A Barefoot Tide and A Dancing Tide
Barefoot Tides Series ~ Two Book Series: A Barefoot Tide and A Dancing Tide
"A Barefoot Tide by Grace Greene is a touching story of finding the beauty in life, despite the trials and tragedies life has put in the way.Author Grace Greene has a talent for writing heart warming stories of individuals overcoming adversity - and doing so with patience and grace - when many others would take a much different route. I highly recommend A Barefoot Tide (and sure do hope it won't be the end of this crossover story??) I easily give this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, but would give ❤❤❤❤❤ if it were an option." - CindyLovesBooks.com
"Sometimes All It Takes Is A Break. This was a remarkable tale of a woman who was down on her luck being given a chance... Lilliane's story was a great crossover between Greene's mountain based Cub Creek series and beach based Emerald Isle series, one full of heart and... well, grace. :D ... Very much recommended." - Jeff Sexton BookAnon.com
"I have thoroughly enjoyed all of Grace Greene's novels that I have been privileged to read, but nothing prepared me for A Barefoot Tide. The raw emotions so eloquently painted on the pages of this book bare the two main characters' souls, evoking a depth of empathy from the reader not often encountered. It isn't often a book effects me like this one did,and when one does the sensation is special indeed." - Christian Fiction and More (.blogspot.com)

I really don't know where to start to describe this book, and it's wonderful story of Lilliane Moore from Cub Creek, Virginia. She is referred to as the Keeper of Memories and as a story teller. However she's so much more. She's a daughter, a friend, a person that never meets a stranger, and one who is seeking to determine her path in life.
The journey to find that path is set in place by her taking a job as a companion to a ninety year old man in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, and oh what a journey it is for both Lilliane and the folks she encounters along the way.
Grace Greene has written a beautiful story that will grab you from the first sentence, and have you a bit sad when you read the last words. The writing calls you to read and keep on reading.
Now to reread it at a bit slower pace to discover the many things I missed the first time around.
The growing friendship between the 90yo Merrick and 38yo Lillianne makes you turn page after page without realizing. He is a rich stubborn and moody thriller writer who didn't write anything new for the past 20 years. She's a free spirit yet stuck in one place, tied to her parents memories (who suffered a tragic death 20 years before) and working any job that pays. Three weeks of sharing stories and a house by the beach and he's writing a romance novel (loved the glimpse of the story-inside-story) while she's learning more about herself and the richness of life one can get by taking chances.
The part witnessing Lillianne's "firsts" was such a treat - first walking in the sand, first dipping in the ocean, first far-away trip. How many of us can remember that and how it felt?
My favorite paragraph in the book:
"In the end, my dear girl, you must do what’s best for you. Not best for your friends. Or your acquaintances. Or even your parents . . . or your memory of them. This is your turn. Your go-round. Do your thing. Whether it’s in Cub Creek, Emerald Isle, Timbuktu, or someplace else—do you. Otherwise, all the hopes and dreams and heartaches were just a waste and a cheat.”
Author Grace Greene has a talent for writing heart warming stories of individuals overcoming adversity – and doing so with patience and grace – when many others would take a much different route. This is true of the stories in her Emerald Isle and Cub Creek series, as well as this and other individual titles.
What makes A Barefoot Tide unique? Possibly my favorite Grace Greene novel yet, this is a crossover. The main character, Lilliane, lives in Cub Creek, but is about to be offered a life changing opportunity in Emerald Isle! A huge fan of both previous series, I couldn’t wait to read A Barefoot Tide. As much as I enjoyed the Emerald Isle and Cub Creek books, this new story seemed to touch me more deeply.
At first I believed it may be because the character of Lilliane is slightly older, and that could be part of it. But looking back on the story I realize emotional connections I felt were made by the author describing someone falling in love with books and reading, for the first time, as well as her personal connection to parts of the storyline.
I highly recommend A Barefoot Tide (and sure do hope it won’t be the end of this crossover story??) I easily give this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, but would give ❤❤❤❤❤ if it were an option.
I have followed along with a few of her Cub Creek novels, so I knew it would be a g rated story. Which is good in a lot of ways. This world is Topsy turvey and having just a good story to read is comforting. Thank you to the author for giving me this comfort.
I loved this book and I really would like this to become a series book. Miss Grace I want more please! I was never a pleasure reader until I was introduced to your books.😁👍
As the plot unfolds, she discovers new friendships and a new path in life. A very heartwarming and uplifting book about self discovery, overcoming adversity and moving forward.
