Mike Mignola is best known as the multiple award-winning creator, writer, and artist of "B.P.R.D." and "Hellboy", but has fostered several other projects like "The Amazing Screw-On Head" and "Baltimore" with Christopher Golden. Although he began working as a professional cartoonist in the early 1980s, drawing 'a little bit of everything for just about everybody' - including characters like Batman and Wolverine - he was also a production designer on the Disney film "Atlantis: The Lost Empire". Mignola also acted as a visual consultant to Guillermo del Toro on "Blade 2" and the film versions of Hellboy, which were broadly adapted by del Toro from the original comic series. Mike Mignola currently lives in southern California with his wife, daughter, and cat.

Both stories are good in their own way, though I felt the stronger of the two stories was Master of the Future. While I wasn’t quite as wowed by the story presented in Gotham by Gaslight (the “surprise” ending was anything but), I personally enjoyed the art by Mignola and P. Craig Russell a little bit more.
Please don’t take that as a knock against the work of Mr. Barreto!
I just happen to be a MIke Mignola fanatic and seeing his pencils inked by also incredibly talented P. Craig Russell is a unique treat.
So there you have it. I enjoyed the writing in one story a little more than the other and enjoyed the art in the other story a little bit more than the other.
I’m quibbling here. The overall work is definitely worth a look.
Recommended.

Set in the late 1800's, the story allows for Batman to take on a well-known murderous foe: Jack the Ripper!
The story is pretty good. The artwork is very good. And the novelty of the tale is excellent. This was the first Elseworlds graphic novel, and given its success a series of such adventures followed.
If you're a Batman fan, and you enjoy alternate story-lines to the main saga continuity, you'll probably like this.

When I saw it on Kindle I had to get it right there & then.
Took me back to being a young Teenager discovering an excellent different take on the Batman I knew so far.
Loved it & will continue to love this Story as I grow Older.
You know what they say, some things just stay with you & this Tale is one of them...

The actual comic book is printed on glossy paper. The drawings are simplistic, but artful. On the whole, well worth reading.
