Twenty years in the future, Bruce Wayne wakes up in Arkham Asylum. Young. Sane. And...he's never been Batman. To piece together the mystery of his past, the Dark Knight embarks on a sprawling quest through this unknown world, meeting futuristic versions of former friends and enemies, including a grisly traveling companion--the Joker's head. Somehow still alive, Joker's decapitated head becomes Batman's ghoulish guide through the landscape of the devastated DC Universe.
But to unravel the cause of this terrible future, he'll need to track down the unspeakable force that destroyed the world he once knew. This could be the last Batman story ever told...

About the author

I write comic books! Growing up, I always wanted to write comics, but I ended up trying my hand at fiction first. I got my MFA from Columbia University, published a book of short stories with The Dial Press in 2006 called Voodoo Heart, then finally broke into comics in 2009 and haven't looked back since. I've worked extensively for DC Comics, writing such titles as Batman, Detective Comics, Justice League, the comic event books DC Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal, and Swamp Thing, among others. I've also created a number of series with some great co-creators and partners -- books like We Have Demons, Clear, Night of the Ghoul, Nocterra, American Vampire, Wytches, the Wake, AD: After Death, and more... I live in NY with my wife, Jeanie and our three boys. I am also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

The story turned me, flipped me, scared me, and at one point made me want to stop reading because of where I thought it was turning. And then I got flipped again.
The switchback and hairpin turns are definitely not gratuitous. As I was swept through this heart rending, mind bending story, every sudden detour made sense in leading to a climatic destination. And even that has a twist.
A fantastic Batman story. Too ten, too if the shelf. Read it slow, drink in the mesmerising art. You won't get drunk but it will raise your spirits.

Halfway through I wasn’t sure where it was going because the plot is all over the place at times.
But I feel it has an Old Man Logan feel this comic has.
Who knows, a series with Wonder Woman maybe? Or other DC characters in this future.
This comic doesn’t pull any punches at all, the plot is as chaotic as chaos gets.
But in the end it plays out well enough.
I don’t want to spoil the story for you so I’m not giving away too much.
I think this may appeal to Snyder-Capullo enthusiasts more than anyone. So if you don’t know their names or you’re unfamiliar, check out The New 52 Batman comics!
The plot is nonsensical, it’s disjointed and I still loved it.
I even got the three original comics on release because I have so much faith in Snyder and Capullo.
The book is a basic hardback and dust jacket.
The hardback has the jokers head with a yellow background.
The pages are alright, better than The Justice League, Hawkman pages we’ve recently had.
You got some nice variants in the back too....
Yeah that’s it.
No notes, no sketches or alternative scenes.
My opinion would be get this comic!
But if you’re not plush with cash then I’d just wait for it to drop in price.
It’s a great story, but I don’t think it’ll go down with the ages.
So yeah, a recommend comic indeed.
Thanks for reading!

It's a crazy story with outlandish ideas and looks at a world that reevaluate's the DC heroes and villains as we know it. Throw in a great mystery plot and great dynamic duo and this book is nothing short of amazing.
If you love DC. If you Love Batman and if you love post apocalyptic settings with a fresh coat of paint. This is a no brainer for any fan

I hadn't been reading comics for quite a while as it's somewhat difficult to get them here in Egypt. Thus, it made more sense to get volumes instead of issues. Of course, I had been following BATMAN TV shows, animated films, and live-action films.
Then, I started reading the Court of Owls storyline in 2015 and I felt tingles all over my body. The writing, the art, and every single thing brought me lots of happy memories. I began to read the classics electronically and got hardcover editions of books I enjoyed most. BATMAN The Killing Joke was my first ever hardcover comic book to get in my adulthood. I went on to follow the rest of Scott and Greg's run and rebirth. Here I am now, keeping myself up to date with all the new BATMAN issues,
I faced many traumas, including getting bullied, molested, and mentally abused. These stories became my Batcave, my Fortress of solitude. Without comics, graphic novels, and video games, I would have committed suicide thinking that there's no way to pick myself up or try again.
BATMAN is my heart.
Okay, enough with the backstory!
The book here is a great addition to their run. Its twists and convoluted story may puzzle some people, but it gives you a glimpse into a dark distant future where things are not what they seem. The Dark Knight must untangle the mysteries of the past to find out what's going on in the world.
What happened to Gotham City?
Who is the so-called Omega?
And many more questions which are answered in a mind-grabbing way!
Get ready for a masterpiece!
Just like the Court of Owls, Death of the Family, and Endgame.
Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo outdid themselves once more!
