I write comic books! Growing up, I always wanted to write comics, but I ended up trying my hand at fiction first. I got my MFA from Columbia University, published a book of short stories with The Dial Press in 2006 called Voodoo Heart, then finally broke into comics in 2009 and haven't looked back since. I've worked extensively for DC Comics, writing such titles as Batman, Detective Comics, Justice League, the comic event books DC Dark Knights Metal and Death Metal, and Swamp Thing, among others. I've also created a number of series with some great co-creators and partners -- books like We Have Demons, Clear, Night of the Ghoul, Nocterra, American Vampire, Wytches, the Wake, AD: After Death, and more... I live in NY with my wife, Jeanie and our three boys. I am also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge fan of the Dark Nights Metal Series
By Joker on September 6, 2019
This graphic novel is amazing.

The story and art is all very well done.

The Dark Multiverse is a fresh idea for DC to introduce unique and terrifying evil characters!

At the end of the novel you will find a variant cover gallery. Every picture is very well done and looks amazing.

A large hardcover with a dust jacket.
The pages are thick enough and the paper quality is fine.
You get some sketches at the back of the book and some variant covers.
Another reviewer said this book was a few pages? It’s a seven issue graphic novel with a Grim Knight tie in. A fairly reasonable size.
I like Snyder as a writer, but the speech bubbles are a long read in comic terms.
I don’t mind that, but some people might.
Artist Jock, a personal favourite since Snyders Black Mirror (Highly recommended)
The art is lovely as usual from Jock but I just get a little lost it in his art.
The speech bubbles for Batman later in the comic become hard to read with grey and red letters in a disjointed writing style.
Same with Batman Who Laughs with a black speech bubble and disjointed red letters. It has a great effect but I personally got lost in the letters at times.
A great Metal story and highly recommend but I’d say read Metal first and their tie ins for this to make more sense.
I just love Batman Who Laughs and I just hope they don’t make him an obscure character or some kind of foil.
