A decent afternoon action movie when bored and there's nothing on TV.

Surprisingly entertaining all things considered.

This movie is basically lower budget action flick in the same vein as the Expendables. A over top group of mercenary's get caught up in the scheme of the main villain and spend most of the movie in crazy action filled fights with the faceless mooks of the clearly evil antagonist.

The whole thing is over the top but I can't help but think the entire crew was well aware of that from the start. The plot is ridiculous, but fun. The actors while not the best I've ever seen are pretty solid in their performances, even with their sometimes painful lines. The CGI effects while not the best, are acceptable and actually at times far better than I've seen in even some big budget block busters.

I enjoyed this movie a lot more than i thought i would. This movie will stay as a guilty pleasure in my library for a long time. I kinda wish that Expendables was as entertaining as this turned out to be.

Better Than a Lot of B-Grade Movies Once it Gets Going
Battle Drone has a bunch of mercenaries sent to Chernobyl to retrieve some weapons being kept there, since where better to put something than somewhere no one goes (well except the tours of tourists but they conveniently aren't in this movie). When they get there they are fired upon by a sniper, but this is no human sniper. Sure it looks like a human wearing a costume, but it's actually a drone. Not the normal flying drone but a Robocop type soldier. A nerd safe away from the front lines operates the thing and kills the enemy. For some reason though they made these drones vulnerable to being shot in the head or stabbed in the neck. So it can be killed. But there's more than just one!

Battle Drone is okay, it's not the greatest movie you'll ever see. It has it's faults, like it takes ages to get to Chernobyl and encounter the drones. There's also a lot of slow motion fight scenes which is annoying. For some reason although this is supposed to be set in the Ukraine we have American country music as the soundtrack in action scenes. But it's better than a lot of B-grade movies once it gets going.

Everyone set us up.
A group of mercenaries are set up to battle drones. "A"Team vs Terminators. They battle at Chernobyl (filmed in Romania).

This is your typical mindless action film. What I liked about this film is that they knew what it takes to make a decent film like this: crazy characters, swagger music, slow motion fight scenes, and plenty of them, humor, and a love/hate relationship. Nothing much in a twist. Good banter. It is what you expect.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity. Plenty of killing.

Loved the merc crew!
This is a great lazy afternoon action flick if you don't take it too seriously and just enjoy it. I love that the mercenary team had very well defined personalities, quirks and friendships; I wish more movies spent the time to flesh out their characters like this! It's worth a few bucks and rates quite a bit higher than your typical sci fi channel movie of the week. Also, it had just fantastic close up camera work on fights, with epic slo-mo for added fun!
